A LIFE ONCE LOST, EPICUREAN, ION VEIN and ARISE AND RUIN COMPLETE LINEUP

I've only heard ALOL live, and as far as I've gathered while getting kicked in the stomach, they're southern influenced (or should I just say pantera influenced) metalcore. The same as Trivium, Every time I die, Lamb of God, Throwdown, etc. etc. etc.

I've seen it all, its all the same.

Epicurean is NOT metalcore and neither is A Life Once Lost! While they
may have some core-ish vocal elements at times, to write them off
as metalcore is a shame for you because there is some absolutely
killer METAL music happening.

Regarding who are and who aren't deserving bands, and considering where
Rob, John and I are coming from, you've got a lot of fucking nerve to tell
us who is and who isn't, and let's just leave it at that.

no need to apologize for your bad taste in music. we all have our faults.

Yeah...apparently a lot of ppl around here judge a band solely based on vocal performance. Truly a shame! But fuck it, who cares. It's obviously not just another building year, but also a weed-out year. :p

I'm honestly starting to reconsider our no-ban policy. I'm starting to get the feeling that some of the true Powerfest fans & supporters are starting to feel intimidated by the over-abundance of naysayers (some outright fucking assholes) & therefore are worried about posting in fear of being lashed out at or ridiculed by the current so-called supporters. :Smug:

If & when it'll happen, I don't know yet...but it's getting fucking ridiculous around here. It's not good when the ppl behind the topic of the forum are starting to hate their own forum. Maybe we can ask Mr. UltimateMetal (Deron) to start an Anti-Powerfest forum for these ppl to hang out at. Or maybe just go back to where they came from...the ProgPower forum. :Smug:

p.s. In case you're wondering, Jason...although your posts can be quite annoying at times, you're not among the ones I was thinking of when typing this post. :p Not this time anyway...

Before anyone says it, there's a difference in posting your dislike with a certain band or line up and just plain beating a dead horse. The same remarks about how this or that band suck and how "if this or that band would of played it would draw more" are downright annoing. The fest is there, take it or leave it, tell me I'm kissing ass or wahtever but I feel a sense of pride that this fest is in Chicago. You don't see too many people loosing money year after year and still keep it going. Of course you're not gonna like everyband on the roster, that's just ridiculous to think that you are, but do most of you feel the need to post the same shit over and over again?
If you don't like the fest then don't go. If you like the band then watch it, if you don't then hang out at the bar, that's what I'll be doing.

I don't... I could careless about vocals really. And I don't really decided on a band based on their genre. Hell... Between The Buried and Me. They do their genre right.

I'll also be seeing Earth Crisis in a couple weeks.

etc.

Theres plenty in the genre I have no qualms, and will go see...

On the other hand, theres bands like A Life Once Lost, who just don't bring anything to the table that hasn't been done by 3200 bands before them.

Plus, many of the posts on here by a certain few are starting to get malicious, which is NOT cool.

If a stranger were to surf onto this forum for the first time, they would see more negativity towards our fest, than support. That is definitely something we do NOT want represented here.

At first, I didn't want to censor anyone or ban anyone, but it's starting to look more like we're pussies that we allow all this shit-talking than being cool for allowing it to happen.

Therefore, from a marketing point of view, which obviously is all we care about according to some, it's becoming more of a liability to allow all the shit-talking.

I've already had quite a few people say that they would like to post here or more often if they didn't have to deal with an asshole possibly insulting their taste in music...most of whom are kids. Now that is very uncool!! In the past, I would defend those "assholes" & just say that they're truly nice people but like to get under people's skin. We'll, it's becoming intolerable.

This fest & forum have always been about open-mindedness & the appreciation of several types of metal, but apparently that's hard to see anymore if you read this forum lately. All I see anymore is people getting defensive, myself included, and having to explain themselves for almost every post.

Debates & differences of opinion are great, but only if both sides are respectful of each other...something you don't see much of anymore around here. And what some may consider an odd sense of humor, others consider it being downright malicious...but with a smile.

I guess what I'm trying to also say is that I'd rather have no traffic on this forum than continue the sort of traffic we've had these last few months. I guess I'm just getting too old to have to deal with assholes on a daily basis, while I'm losing my ass financially to help provide something that is getting extremely difficult to see the appreciation for.

Yeah, yeah, I know...I'm sounding like a whiney little bitch, but it's just not worth it anymore.  When Chris, John & I have to talk each other down from wanting to go postal on this forum every day, we're just wasting our time when we should be concentrating on promoting the fest.

yeah, we need to weed out these types.

Not to poke the bear any further....but you had to expect lots of complaining once these announcements were made. Most of the people who make this forum are not fans of mallcore...most are doom / power / thrash / and folk fans. banning people will just cause more trouble than it is worth. I know being a targeted person for being banned, I get lots of PM's from people saying that I am glad I speak my mind, it gets debates going and further discussions when usually this forum is pretty dead. I think you guys hit record highs of traffic when we were sparring. You know what they say...any press is good press. I will always speak my mind when it comes to things metal. I take that very serious. I would just hate to see this fest turn into Sounds of the Underground Jr.

I have said in the past that I want this fest to grow and make you guys some money but this direction isnt the way to help it. You now just turned off many original supporters. Sure you may gain new ones, but those are the types like in any trend who will vanish once it is over. I have seen it happen so many times.

It is funny that you mention the fighting and bitching, but you are also one involved in it too....yes? Everyone here has battled it once or twice with someone here. It is never malicious...even when Will and I go at it. Most of it is just to debate and have fun.

Like I said before. I am going both days...just coming late because I cant take those types of bands anymore. They just get on my nerves. It actually works out for me better because I can save a vacation day and just come later after work now.

didnt Rob just talk about cooling it and here you are wanting violence against little ole me. You dont even know me....odds are...you would think I was a nice and charming person. Ask anyone here who has met me....Jose, Shadowlioness and even Jason. I am quiet the humdinger.:kickass:

If you don't want a problem with someone than keep your opinions targeted at the bands. You have a real bad habit of taking cheap shots at people. No, I don't know you and you don't know me but did that stop you from making an uninformed, rude comment towards me in a different thead? No, it didn't. How do you expect people to react when you make it personal?

that remark wasnt made at you, just about people who go to strip clubs. I am sure you know the types.

Also...the people I take cheap shots at are the people that are my friends....like jason, Pate, and Veggie.....even Jose once in a great while.

That's fine, I'll let it go. But I still think the fest would make alot of money off putting you in the ring

I think a dunking booth would be better. I agree, I think a boxing ring would be an added thing to the fest....I suggested a while back, games of some kind so if you dont like a band you can go and do something.

maybe even metal trivia or something....you could win shirts or CD's, or even jasons car.
