If you could pick the best songs from Load and Reload to make one really solid album (or at least a worthy follow-up to Black), which ones would you choose?
King Nothing
The House That Jack Built (even though its too slow...)
Fuel
Unforgiven 2
Devils Dance
Until It Sleeps
Hero Of The Day (its not great but its alright)
Well I like them both (particularly Load), so this won't be so easy for me, but here it goes:
1. Ain't My Bitch
2. The Memory Remains
3. The House Jack Built
4. Until It Sleeps
5. Fuel
6. Devil's Dance
7. Bleeding Me
8. Cure
9. Carpe Diem Baby
10. Prince Charming
11. Low Man's Lyric
12. King Nothing
13. Ronnie
14. Fixxxer
Thats leaving out some great material from Load and some good stuff from Re-Load.
Ronnie would have to be the worst song from load. In fact, it would have to be close to the worst Metallica song in general.
Memory Remains is a shocker too. I remember buying the single and praying it was an improvement over Load (an album I quite like now). Needless to say it wasn't, and I actually felt sick knowing how low they had sunk.
There were other songs I like much more than Ronnie (Outlaw Torn for one), but it just kind of fitted better. Not a great song, but there is something about it I like.
The Memory Remains is coooool, just listen to it on S&M. The crowd singing along sounds so good. A very cool sing along live song IMO.
That's the thing abotu Load/Reload... the songs are still cool live. I didn't really like Ain't My Bitch till I heard it live... I've loved it ever since!
Ain't my Bitch
The Memory Remains
The House Jack Built
Until it Sleeps
Unforgiven II
King Nothing
Hero of the Day
Carpe Diem Baby
Bleeding Me
Where the Wild Things Are
Wasting my Hate
Low Man's Lyric
Mama Said
Thorn Within
Fixxxer
The Outlaw Torn
Shit, its too long, isn't it? That was fucking hard. I'm a confessed Load lover.
2 x 4
The house Jack built
Until it sleeps
Bleeding me
The outlaw torn
Fuel
Devil's dance
The unforgiven II
Carpe diem baby
Prince charming
Low man's lyric
Fixxxer
I would also add The memory remains, if it weren't for the annoying outro, it goes on and on and pretty much wrecks the song
