A new, sober, thread about single malt scotch whisky thread.

Age doesnt necessarily equate to better. Depends on your tastes. The longer its been aged, the more oaky/woody it iwll be and get flavors from whatever the barrel was used for previously ie sherry, amaroso, burgundy, etc etc.

Also, you cant go wrong with anything Talisker.

No idea because the Distiller's Edition I'm getting is a tad more expensive than the 18yr old. Maybe it depends on the yr. The one I had that was fucking unruly was 1996 I believe. Not even sure what year this one is as I tracked aplace down that had it and just told the in-laws. I'll see on Xmas Eve.

I keep wanting to get the Four Roses Single Barrel but it reminds me of Guns 'n Roses and I just can't.
Almost got some Buffalo Trace last night though

hahah ... i have a similar feeling ... except i get reminded of rose wine for some reason and it feels wimpy.
