Here's a set of reamps of Jeff's Rose of Sharyn DIs through various amps I've compiled over the years. I have more, but I can't seem to find them on my system, so I'll be looking on my laptop today to see if they might've been recorded on there.

ALL recordings (unless otherwise mentioned) are done through a Mesa OS 4x12 miced with a Shure SM57 where the cone meets the dust cap. Some were done with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and others with a Presonus Firepod (I can't remember which were done with which, sorry). NO BOOSTS OR PEDALS!

Only post-processing done is a single band EQ on the distortion tracks with a high pass filter at 90Hz. All tracks are processed with Slate FG-X on the master buss, with the same settings, to keep it consistent.

These are just a SINGLE track left and right, not quad tracked!

These are in no way scientific, as they were all done over the span of several years, so they were not consistently miced in the exact same position (though the micing position WAS marked on the cab, so it was very close each time).

Enjoy!

Great, thanks alot, always get the impression that I am after different
sounds than most the guys here :D

A mix between the Marshall 2210 and the Bogner Duende with a TS in
front would be cool imho, really disliking all the Kranks, Mesas just aren't
my cup of tea, Peaveys are ok, Framus needs more mids, Soldano is nice,
Mesa Nomad, too, Gainiac sucks, Jet City and Fargen aren't my cup of tea
and not made for that genre but pretty decent.
The Splawn is cool, I would tweak it a bit different, and the Orange is my
favorite by far, it just has that growl that I like.
Maybe a mix between the Orange and Splawn would be perfect for me.

2 channel dual recto for me.
It sounds like some of the high gain amps are not getting a high enough signal.
The DI recordings in Jeff's ROS pack were properly gain staged when they were tracked, but this leads to a low signal to the re-amp box.
I normalized the DIs first time I tried to re-amp them to get a good level to my Radial X-amp.
Pushing the level with a tube screamer doesn't sound the same.
Maybe you have done this yourself already (or boosted the output driving your re-amp box)
Anyway, thanks for the shootout.
If nothing else, I learned I prefer the recto without the bias mod, point to point wiring makes little to no difference, 5150 really does sound more open and aggressive than 5150II, Soldano sounds like a 5150 with less fizz, combos don't do tight metal very well at all and finally, I need to get a Orange next.

thanks for your great work ;)
almost everythings sound good
Kranks are still the best in my opinion

The 1986 Marshall JCM 800 2203 and orange take it for me!

Yea that ganiac is funky.

Nice reamps, thanks so much this is really interesting!

Ill also say that rectifiers aren't my cup of tea.

5150 II, 3 channel mesa dual recto and Orange mk50 are my favs. Thanks for this shoutout
