I seems the common consensus is that C# is as about as low as you can go w/ a 6 string w/ a 24"-25" scale and keep your intonation manageable. But I was wondering, would I be able to get away w/ tuning to A standard on a 25.5" scale 6 string if I replace the saddles?

Common consensus? I'm in B on my 24.75" explorer with no intonation problems whatsoever. Just increase the string gauge and you should get away with tuning low on a short scale, though obviously 25.5" takes lower tunings better than 24.75". Of course going too low will make intonation hard, but like I said I'm in B standard on a 24.75" with no problems, don't see why A standard wouldn't work on a 25.5".
