A thread for Mr. Paul Unhinged

VOIP installation/deployment team.

not that it has not hit already ... but this stuff is ready to infiltrate the average joe mainstream real soon ... need to be on top of these stocks.

been using it for almost a year myself ... glitchy here and there but overall a bargain over regular land lines.

Yeah, my buddy is on the team that goes in, analyzes, makes upgrade reccomendation s and then installs/configures everything and hands it over to the TAC.

unhinged, if you pretend for a moment that you had no responsibilities with your family and whatever else that eats your time, and that you could spend all the time you wanted on doing scald/art/design work -- do you think you could sustain a sufficient income to survive solely on those things?

on the artwork / design I'd say I could do it
couldn't have said that a couple of years ago

with scald I wouldn't want to
sure we'd like to make more money just to finance our projects easier, but, I doubt we will ever make a wage from it, it would mean a certain amount of whoring and scald is something that I won't let be corrupted by industry

Aye, thanks for that

Oh that I understand fully, you've probably seen me rant about stuff like this for pages and pages before

ha, I think it is possible to make a living from music and keep your vision pure
but not with the sort of music we make
I think our positions on this are probably quite similar

with art its easier
much of the art I make for others I don't consider to be art, but illustration, becuse I'm really just making a visual representation of the bands concept
but its a fine line, it depends how much of myself I put into it

possible, but not likely, given the track record of 99% of all bands

yeah and this is an interesting point that i would mostly agree with

I think with both media you can put your soul into it
and with both you can jump any bandwagon to cashville
but with music its so much easier to be a sheep
its accepted more by the masses- bands just do what other bands do

also I could do a mural for someone of some existing art in thier house..or bar or whatever, and its just a job, not a sellout

but if I played in a covers band for money I'd consider myself a sellout cunt

with art/illustration I think you can separate money work and art work, I find that impossible with music, I can only do it for myself

personally i wouldn't, not if i considered it my "day job"/just did it for fun and kept it seperate from my serious endeavors. it's all about attitude, not everything has to be gravely serious, ye know :goggly:

i respect your opinion though, and i certainly understand your reluctance to undermine your art by playing the market. me, i don't mind being in a goof band, wearing silly costumes, playing keggers, etc....although that is different than trying to make a living out of it.
