I've only just checked them out and I'm lovin' them! 'Tara' is a fuckin' awesome album, and Proscriptor is a fuckin demon behind the kit! I've never heard double bass so quick. I can't believe I dismissed them as another Bush Metal BM band, how wrong was I!?

Very good blackthrash yes....I love Tara myself, and Proscriptor is among my very favourite drummers stylistically. She Cries The Quiet Lake is my favourite song ever for the drum-track.

I just got Sun of Tiphareth this morning, haven't listened to it yet though....I expect it'll kick ass however.

Proscriptor also plays for another blackthrash band called Melechesh for those who don't know yet. They are utterly awesome, very genuine-sounding mesopotamian melodies, and although Proscriptor doesn't tear it up like he does in Absu, he's still very creative with his rhythms and beats.

As BloodStainedWalls just said: \m/ Melechesh \m/ I've got 'Djinn' and 'Sphynx' and love them both, 'Sphynx' is my favourite of the two. I dunno why Proscriptor doesn't go all out like in Absu though... :erk:

To be honest, i'm glad he doesn't. He's just got unique style; his simpler, slower beats have a more primal, archaic feel to them.....and they complement the excellent melo-black-thrash riffing instead of overpowering them with blasts and fills.

meh, my favourite songs are on Djinn, but for consistency I like Sphynx better.

I have The Sun of Tipareth. pretty cool album

I also have Tara, but i got it the day before i had to return to college and haven't listened to it yet.

I have all the Absu albums and I think they're one of the most brilliant bands in metal, not bad for a bunch of Texans :D I owe to Absu my interest in Mesopotamian mythology. My fav album is the Sun of Tiphareth. Proscriptor is an amazing drummer, especially when you consider he's the vocalist.

I heard this rumour that actually Absu had broken up because they had recorded an album and the label (i think its run by someone in Krieg or some other mediocre USBM band) didn't want to release it. Anyone know if this is true? I hope not...

:Smug: Now now, some of the best black metal from North America are from Texas based bands (Averse Sefira, Absu, Chthonian Appanage :p)
