So who has heard of them? I've seen a few good reviews for the latest album "words that go unspoken, deeds that go undone" & I was just wondering what you guys thought of them?
Worth checking out ?

Cheers

what I've heard from them is good, although his voice at some times annoyed the hell out of me, but other times I liked it ..
oh well, check it out at least :p

they're kinda a 'meh' band for me. the lyrics just seem so stupid to me, and i dont like the vocals. the music isnt that bad though.

the new album, however, is the only one i will still listen to.

The new album is the only one I've heard and it's really good. I've read mixed (mostly mediocre/bad) reviews about their backcatalog so I haven't bothered with any of that.

'Words That Go Unspoken...' is really, really good. One of the most solid releases of last year. It's a grower, but there's some really cool, expansive death metal going on there. Jason Mendonca vocals can grate a little, but they are really varied if you give them a chance. Seriously, that disc is well worth checking out.

I also have Choronzon, got it cheap. It's nowhere near as good. Some good bits, but it's kinda overrated. It does, however, have one of the funniest intros I ever heard. Not sure if it's meant to be though .

The newest one is pretty great. The vocals are really good. That guy has tremendous range in his growls. He does black metal vocals as good as anyone. At first it may seem like a haphazard combination of black and death metal, but it is really a rather progressive album. Highly recommended.

i share this opinion....

The Cocke's new album (as mentioned by others) is great...even though it does have a load of cheesy evil laughing on it.....Owhahahahargh.

Well, I suppose... I think it's just because I find the whole concept a little ridiculous, and also I don't know how seriously to take them after seeing the free DVD that came with 'Words...'. All I can say is .

That dvd was very funny, haha, you gotta hand it to the Satanist Metal dudes for having a laugh at their own expsense.

I know, I was expecting it to be all stuffy, pretentious and serious. Bu I laughed my ass off from start to finish!

Mendonca: My favourite porno.... one I picked up in Greece... it was called 'Man with Wife and Goat'

I love Akercocke, their new album is great, and the DVD is so funny. I like it when they ask Pete how far he would go for Satan and he goes, "About the M6". (It was something along thoughs lines!)

^^ I know!!
Especially after David Gray has just practically had an orgasm saying 'Ohhhhhh... EVERYTHING I do... is for Satan...'

That dvd has so many funny quotes, you could fill many pages with them!
