Advice for a new fan?

Solefald is just too good. I think Arcturus and Solefald are two really strange and amazing bands that have some of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
I wound up ordering Norrøn Livskunst and have had it for a little over a month now (and it came signed, which I hadn't realized). I think it's an incredible album and one of my favorites from 2010. It was really like a little musical journey, discovering it song by song since all of the songs were so different. I bought it on the strength of Vitets Vidd I Verdi and as I listened to it, each track was a bit of a surprise. I certainly wasn't prepared for something like Eukalyptustreet, which is so beautiful, and intense, and unexpected.

It will probably take a bit longer for me to connect with it more fully, because my usual method of absorbing a cd - sitting down and reading the lyrics while listening - doesn't exactly work here. I do not wish the lyrics were in English; I actually think something would have been lost if they were. But I'd love to get it translated at some point, and not by Google, which can't seem to translate a good portion of the words. Here is the first verse of Song Til Stormen:
"Come, strong storm from æverømd,
and steel my will, solve my string!
Åndå lift on my ørneveng
and hired me sight and day in kjømd."

OK... :) Anyway, I'll try to work at it and see if I can't eventually get a better feel for the lyrics, if not a word by word translation.

In the meantime I've been listening to some of their albums and will definitely need to give those more time. Briefly, Black for Death is the easiest to absorb (though I don't think as captivating as Norrøn Livskunst), Neonism is musically great but will require a lot of getting past the vocals, and In Harmonia Universali is weird, but I think it's a weird that I'm going to like.

Translating Norrøn Livskunst is tricky because it is written in høgnorsk which deviates a bit from the Norwegian most people use.

Alright. I'm aware that this is an old thread, but i stumpled upon it when i was googling for translations of the Norrøn Livskunst lyrics, notalby from Blackabilly.

There must be some Norwegians present on this forum. How's this translation (I haven't taken rhyme, rythm or poetic aesthetics into account, of course - it is just a simple and probalby faulty translations of the worlds):

"One two three
Blackabilly me
Four five six
Burning kicks
Seven eight nine
I want mine
Ten to one
Let's get it on

Rockabilly mockabilly
Blackabilly burnin'
Fuckabilly muckabilly
Whackabilly churnin'
Cockabilly kickabilly
Trickabilly streamin'
Ticabilly tocabilly
Clockabilly screamin'

I made way for the strife
To see what peace was
Now the fight has spread
the noise became true (??)

One two three
It is time
Four five six
Take me witch
Seven eight nine
In pigsty
Ten eleven twelve
But without violence

Blackabilly blackabully
Blackabuddy loomin'
Blackabody blackaboarding
Blackaballing boomin'
Blackafuzzing blackabuzzing
Blackajazzing freezin'
Blackamunchy blackacrunchy
Blackawhacky wheezin'

I play black metal
But no one tastes the steel
I gave all power to the sound
But don't spill blood

So i look once again
towards the innocence of the past
when warlust controlled all
but no-one died i battle

Chilihead chilihead
Hey chilihead
Why choose autumn
When spring is an option?

Heavy head heavy head
Hey heavy head
Here's a chili bomb
For your blackabilly self

Rockabilly mockabilly
Blackabilly King
Fuckabilly muckabilly
Whackabilly King

Chilihead chilihead
Hey chilihead
Cheer up with colours
Red hot fur

Beerhead beerhead
Blackabilly King
But if you pray
Winter will come

Rockabilly mockabilly
Blackabilly Voguesville
Fuckabilly muckabilly
Whackabilly Voguesville

Up he must rise
who will conquer wealth
to fight for his opinions
so must the bard stand

To you who want a (sound?)war
Leave your mercy at home
Go berserk (på valen?? on the valence?)
So every step is a victory

I play to win
In battle with solarljod(??)
I play black metal
But spill no blood"

These are the official lyrics:

One two three
Blackabilly me
Four five six
Burning kicks
Seven eight nine
I want mine
Ten to one
Let's get it on

Rockabilly mockabilly
Blackabilly burnin'
Fuckabilly muckabilly
Whackabilly churnin'
Cockabilly kickabilly
Trickabilly streamin'
Ticabilly tocabilly
Clockabilly screamin'

Me gav ljod til striden
for å syne kva fred var
No hev kampen breidt seg
støyen vorte sann

Ein tvo tri
Det er tidi
Fire fem seks
Ta meg heks
Sju åtte ni
I Svinesti
Ti elleve tolv
men utan vold

Blackabilly blackabully
Blackabuddy loomin'
Blackabody blackaboarding
Blackaballing boomin'
Blackafuzzing blackabuzzing
Blackajazzing freezin'
Blackamunchy blackacrunchy
Blackawhacky wheezin'

Me spelar svart metall
men lèt ingen smaka stål
Me gjev all makt til klangen
men spiller ikkje blod

Difor ser me attende
mot uskulds fornalder
då stridslyst styrde alt
men ingen døydde i kamp

Chilihead chilihead
Hey chilihead
Why choose autumn
When spring is an option?

Heavy head heavy head
Hey heavy head
Here's a chili bomb
For your blackabilly self

Rockabilly mockabilly
Blackabilly King
Fuckabilly muckabilly
Whackabilly King

Chilihead chilihead
Hey chilihead

But if you pray
Winter will come

Rockabilly mockabilly
Blackabilly Voguesville
Fuckabilly muckabilly

Upp i otta må han rise
som rikdom vil taka
Upp for sine meiningar
slik må skalden stande

Til deg som vil i ljodkrig
Lat nåden liggje heime
Gakk berserk på valen
so kvart steg vert ein siger

Me spelar for å vinne
i strid med solarljod
Me spelar svart metall
men spiller ikkje blod

I'm not very good with nynorsk, and especially not høgnorsk, but I'll give it a try:

I made way for the strife - "Me" means "we"
To see what peace was
Now the fight has spread - I would rather use "battle" but fight works fine.
the noise became true (??) - Yeah, this is ok.

I play black metal - Again "we"
But no one tastes the steel - "But let no one taste steel"
I gave all power to the sound - "We". "Reverb" would be a more correct translation of "klang" I guess, but in the context "sound" is probably fine.
But don't spill blood - "Doesn't" (?)

Up he must rise - Your guess is as good as mine
who will conquer wealth
to fight for his opinions
so must the bard stand

To you who want a (sound?)war - Yep.
Leave your mercy at home
Go berserk (på valen?? on the valence?) - No idea.
So every step is a victory

I play to win - "We"
In battle with solarljod(??) - Maybe something about the sound of the sun? Light music as opposed to the stridsljod/battesound?
I play black metal - "We"
But spill no blood"
