So what does everyone think of this band or album? Personally i feel it crushes a huge amount of modern metal bands.

I have to admit that I've only listened to Akercocke rather sparingly. However what I have heard I've enjoyed quite a lot. They're one of those bands thats on a list in my head of "bands I need to sit down and really listen to more". There's certain bands whom I find I cannot just throw on any ol' time. I come across bands like Akercocke and after a couple of listens I realise, "Okay, I need to put this aside and wait until I can really take the time to absorb this properly." Know what I mean?

I know what you mean. Although, they are extremely complex in every term, but i actually find them very easy to listen to. And it is good because most deathmetal bores the shit out of me because of the lack of variety, akercocke has very little boundaries within themselves i feel. And they come out with some really thunderous riffs like one particular one in a song called 'The Penance'. Once i heard that i just bought the album instantly. Just for that riff. Silly, eh?

Let's see if this makes sense... I like Akercocke when I hear their straight forward "songs" and not a fan of the chaotic material.
