Not perfect but I love this album when I don't listen too much. People can shit on them for redundancy over their discography, but the whole "muh triplets" thing was perfectly fine for the first couple albums.

first two iced earth are better than what followed, i'm still not huge on those though. that band is more enjoyable live actually in my experience.

Yeah I tend to just leave it at the first two Iced Earth albums, I don't hate the rest or anything but they're just not my thing, luckily my brother owns all their stuff so I was able to test them out.

Evaluating the riffs on a case-by-case basis, might be the most out-there metal album of the 80s.

EDIT: Well, in terms of rhythmic disjointery. Voivod and others would beat them in terms of dissonance.
