Heavier riffs overall and denser sound. No acoustic passages. Fewer synth passages, but they're still there. Similar long, epic song structures.

The only thing by solo Lou Reed that sounds similar to The Velvet Underground is probably his first solo album which is self titled. But still, not really, unfortunately.

Okay, I'll admit I mis-called this one. While this Bolzer album isn't as good as Aura, it does grow on you. I kind of hated it on the first 2 listens, but gave it a third, fourth, and now fifth. Give it another shot if you liked either of the prior releases.
