Needless to say Alexi was a huge inspiration to me, and COB really got me into playing guitar and music. What a legacy Alexi left to us, and I think I didn't even realise before his passing away how hardworking and creative he was. I have always admired his playing and song writing abilities, but I guess it really hit me once I heard he passed away. The first four COB albums will always have a special place in my heart (and playlist).

As a tribute I made a gallery of photos of Alexi from about ten Children Of Bodom shows I photographed during 2011-2019. I hope you like it:

great photos man, thank you.

So I was randomly browsing on YouTube when Arkanes Soon Departed tribute video showed up on the sidebar. I clicked on it. My eyes got wet from watching it again. Then the autoplay started a video of the last BAM show. Now Im writing this post here with tears running down my face.... it still hurts so fucking much.....

I was listening to W.A.S.P. yesterday, no need to explain how a great inspiration they were for Alexi. So Youtube recommended me a tribute video with Wild Child song for Alexi. I shut it down immediately, I couldn't even watch a second of it.

I don't know if this will sounds reasonable and sober, but I still feel it like an unreal thing. It's not just some famous great guitarist, it's Alexi. And as someone said: ""Alexi" and "Dead" cannot be put in one sentence."
You know when someone dies there are phases of accepting the death. First two are denial and anger. Well I am at the first.
When I opened that video I felt... Fear. More like horror. I couldn't watch someone's work, no matter how great made and with idea, saying goodbye to Alexi. I couldn't make myself one. We always used to find him there, being over life and failure and pain and everything. I am burning a candle for him every day since the date, but my brain refuses to realize the truth in it's full meaning.

A few days ago I watched old video with him, and when it finished I almost asked: And what you will publish next?
It's too much to take, man, just too much.

The next UK Metalhammer has this tribute poster.

I need to admit it looks fucking amazing. Although they probably only do this to cash in on the fans, I'm still gonna buy one.

Damn! Is there any chance of buying one if you're not from UK?
Yes.

I've ordered the Alexi issue over that site without any problem. While you don't receive any email, they give you a code for your order that you can use, if something is wrong. So make sure to screenshot that code.

The official description actually calls this thing an "Art Card". So I don't know, if it is a poster or has the size of a poster. I assumed it was one.

But even if its just as big as the autograph picture card that came with the Hexed Collectors Edition, it's still worth it Imho. The design is just too badass

Yay, I was always wondering why there's a blue and a white logo of the first album, my guess was something like that and now it's confirmed.

Thank you!!
At the description says that is an "Alexi Laiho art card", sure is a poster?
I found another website which states its a poster. But I don't know for sure unfortunately.

I bought it regardless. You could wait until mine arrives here and I can post pictures. But it might be sold out then.

"As his legal widow, this morning I received the final forensic report with the official cause of Alexi’s passing. The certificate reads in Finnish, “Alkoholin aiheuttama maksan rasvarappeutuminen ja haiman sidekudostuminen”. The English translation is, “Alcohol-induced degeneration of the liver and pancreas connective tissue”. Furthermore, he had a cocktail of painkillers, opioids and insomnia medication in his system."

It's depressing to read however not surprising. Sadly his organs have given up after years of abuse/heavy use :\

The full post from Kimberly:

”As his legal widow, this morning I received the final forensic report with the official cause of Alexi’s passing. The English translation is, “Alcohol-induced degeneration of the liver and pancreas connective tissue”. Furthermore, he had a cocktail of painkillers, opioids and insomnia medication in his system.

The loss of this extraordinarily talented and beautiful soul is a tragedy that was entirely preventable. He had so many good years left in him. Imagine all the amazing music we could still be getting if he had just accepted help. I plead with anyone who is struggling with alcoholism or any other substance abuse problem, to please seek support. You do not have to meet this same fate. If people are trying to help you, remember that they are doing it out of love and concern, so please do not push them away. Please do not surround yourself with enablers who promote your addictions. Let this be a cautionary tale that no one is invincible.

I do not want his death to be in vain. My hope is to eventually start a memorial foundation or charity in his native, Finland to help others struggling with these same demons. This needs to be an open conversation, not a source of shame. We are all human, we all suffer, but help is out there. If his story can save even ONE life, then something good can come out of this horrible loss we have all endured.

Rest in peace, beloved Wildchild”

Damn. Poor guy. Hate that he suffered for so long. But he had such a kickass life and changed the music world while becoming a guitar hero for so many. I get the feeling he wouldn't have changed a thing. Just sucks we won't have more to look forward to.
