Im VERY interested in learning the language, and I think I could pick up a book or two, but the hard part will be pronounciation.

A couple questions: Jaakko (Jaska) is James in english, correct? Cos my name is James... So would Jaakko be pronounced Yah-Ko?

What are some general rules of pronounciation (what do double dots above the letter mean etc)

It would be great if someone could answer these

The dots above a letter is it's own letter.. like Å, Ä and Ö. I can try to give some examples. Å is pronounced like the o in the word port. Ä is pronounced like "ai" in the word fair (fär). Ö is pronounced like the i in the word bird(börd).

I'm from sweden though, I can't talk finnish for shit..
