Am I the only Emperor fan who thinks that Prometheus sucked?

Well,it did'nt suck as such.
Track1 and 6 were good but the rest of it just sounded bland to me.The drums seemed over triggered and the guitars were just dull. Not to mention the fact that Insahn used fucking false harmonics for every riff. That got old quickly.
It was certainly complex and good from a technical standpoint but I thought on a whole it was a dissapointment.

I have all of their records except for their mini-LP ("Emperor") and "Wrath of the tyrant". I think "Prometheus" is the second weakest of them, but still a good record. Taste is of course different, but IMO it's a good record, but ITNE and "IX..." are both great and the best records they've made IMO.
"Prometheus" does have some bad things though: The drums sound weird. I think Trym is an awesome drummer, but I think it sounds like he plays a wrong rhythm sometimes. There are two forms of blastbeats: The one where you play snare, bass drum and hihat/cymbal at the same time and then the one where you play bass drum and hihat/cymbal at the same time and snare in between bass drum hits. Do you understand this or doesn't it make sense to you? I think Trym should have played blastbeat no. 2 in some cases where he plays blastbeat no. 1.
I also think there are some riffs that sounds crappy. It seems like they just said "Hey, we gotta have a riff that's agressive and stuff, so fuck it if it sounds crappy". The riffs I'm talking about sound more like death than black and are very low (played on the e-string) and stuff.

I don't know why they took away the shoutbox, but I'm getting tired of people bashing Prometheus. If Emperor would have never put out anything before it, the album would be a classic. Quit bitching and enjoy Prometheus for what it is.

Nocturnal Emperor: how can you judge an album by two songs?

No, it would not.

Wrath of the Tyrant : Great songwriting and the worst production ever. But it was just a demo so no harm.

Nightside Eclipse : Couple really great songs. Vocals too buried in the mix. Even Ishasn has stated that Nightside is NOT a black metal anthem, critics bashed it up until Emperor started to become popular and gain recognition. Then every one hailed Nightside as the greatest album of all time. Its not.

Anthems : Many more great songs and better production though some things get buried here and there but nothing major.

Equilibrium : Great production, great songs. Still my second fave.

Prometheus : Great songwriting, great songs, beautiful production, owns all your asses. A masterpiece. Period. You dont like it then dont listen to it. End of arguement.

IMO Prometheus is not a bad album at all! But it's Emperor the "worst".......
though it's not an "easy-listening" album and the more you listen to it the more you like it......
