This thread is filed with stupidity, and anyone who has even taken an INTRODUCTION class in ethnic studies and American History can vouch for the all too common theme of disenfranchisement against not only aliens but for portions of the population by and large that are legal. And before anyone jumps in ranting about ethnic this or that (and using it as a scapegoat for logical argumentation), it happened to all "races". Yes, certain peoples were hit harder than others at certain points in history, but that is when you have to consider contextualization in your arguments.

How about the Arabic ? What is the immigration policy of your country ? Is is being flooded creating problems ? How are Americans treated in other countries ? How would they be treated if other countries drew example from the US and bettered their internal situation ? Were they to better their internal situation would their people have a better standard of life and be happy to live there ? Would we get "entitled to govt-provided services" before full citizenship was even acheived ? Could we work off the books for below livable standard wages and shack up with half the extended family to meet a living standard ? Would our babies instantly be citizens ?
Thats all, its alot to consider before jumping to conclusions and pulling some kneejerk "bigot" card, which is nothing more than a distraction to avoid reasonable discussion of the problems at hand.

Hate to break it to you but illegal immigrants pay lots of taxes and often cannot get the services that you imagine they use. They do cost the government money in many ways, but don't think illegal immigrants are purely a drain on society. Things are never that simple.

You have no idea what you're talking about. If immigrants have such an easy time of it these days why do they work in fields picking fruit for below minimum wage? Why do they drive taxis and work in convenience stores? It's because they are exactly the same as the immigrants who came to the US before now, even those who came 80-200 years ago. The only difference now is that they are coming from Asia and Latin America rather than Europe. Also I would like to think nativist bigotry is less apparent now than it was in the past but you seem to contradict that idea.

Those that work in fields (or taxis) for less than appropriate wages do so at the expense of Americans working them for appropriate wages. Its called explotation. Explotation is an unescapable ploy by shakers and rollers. 1. It keeps working class wages low while they inflate their own value 2. Its a tool to convince the blind that immigration illegal or legal as well as job exportation is beneficial to you... yet FINALLY today we are face to face with the real cost of this bullshit. I don't know anything about Korea, but I know they are extremely selective and wary when it comes to immigrants because they are a small single-race country. Japan is the same. They are steeped in Confucian tradition and their education systems largely lack critical thinking. Pretty much not comparable to the U.S. at all.

I like this post.I'm surprised that you threw tobacco in, and not Cotton (many would have switched those items). Tobacco was the hardest crop to farm in early America (and a huge precursor to the cotton industry that would develop) and was also the main reason people were [cough] "imported", since it needed year round attention. Not sure what you are talking about on the military thing but for travel no Im not privileged I'll be lucky to ever cross the Mississippi. There are a few places I'd like to see, Alaska, the awesome western forests, the Dakota Badlands, skiing the Rockies, the English country side, Scotland... but it aint going to happen. However I have done things in my life few ever will, mainly due to lack of interest... LOL
