Hallways of Always
This album crushes me, I just can't stop listening to it!
They've begun as a death metal band, but the new album fully completes their transition to prog & heavy metal. And in my opinion, it just might be their best yet...

I got the single House of Sleep, it sounded like HIM, I'm soooo done with Amorphis, not another penny from me, ever.

EXCELLENT analogy, I've been trying to peg this "sound" they have. I said it sounded like Sentenced's last couple albums, but HIM works well too.

I doubt I'll be buying this either.

Fantastic record

I'll chime in: excellent release.

Probably more so because I'm just pleased that they're back on track, finally. Been missing that innovative vibe since Elegy.

I think I've listened to this about 10 times in the last 72 hours.

What did you think of the "My Kantele"' influenced "Leaves Scar" (with death vocals obviously), or the overtly celtic "Brother Moon", or the Elegy-infused "Under a Soil and Blackstone"...

....oh that's right, you've only heard one song. The radio friendly single. :tickled: Seriously Jim, at least do the decent thing and download the entire album like the rest of us. :loco:

EDIT: Listening to "The Smoke" right now....seriously, no shit, this is their best material since Elegy. If anyone thinks Tuonela or Am Universum is better than this then I don't know what to say, do, or think hahaha.

Mark - I know for a fact you don't think Tuonela or Am Universum is better than the new one. The last one goes without saying. But tell me you're not gay and lying. :loco:

I don't even know those albums. I was just too lazy to type out "Karelian..", "Tales..." and "Elegy"

:D

The new singer does ALOT for the band. You can obviously tell he is mainly influenced by the original Amorphis (who isn't? haha) which helped the writing of this album to include elements of both old and new. Given, Amorphis has never had a bad album; the mellow albums are (at times) just as powerful as the first few records. But everyone knows nothing can ever touch the original style of Finnish doom/death metal gods AMORPHIS.

I didn't think much of the new singer when I saw them live. Pasi was boring as shit on stage but he had a great voice. I'm anxious to hear this album as I also found FFTS to be really lackluster and beneath them.

I know a lot have people have a split between loving Elegy and Tuonela, but I really love both of these albums. "Greed" is one of the greatest Metal songs ever, IMO.

Hmm, you may try listening to the whole record, not just the single. Maybe you'll like it! ;)
