Amp head & cab for studio (no money limit)

+1. Yeah, there's more to amps than the board components. For example, I recall Randall Smith saying part of what gave the Dual Recto its unique tone was the board capacitance with the way he ran the traces on the circuit board. You won't get that effect with a point-to-point wired clone.

Also, a lot of output transformers are proprietary to the amp manufacturer. You can't call Mercury Magnetics and buy a Bogner spec'd transformer from them. Although, I would think they'd set you up with something similar.

So, even if you duplicate the circuit, unless the components are identical, it may sound slightly different.

...In saying that, though, you should be able to end up with a pretty cool sounding amp, even if it doesn't nail the tone of the original.
Right on the spot, dude. Nothing to add.
Oh, and of course, who doesn’t like the real stuff cosmetics? I mean, all my custom amps look like black metal boxes with knobs.

Back on topic, this quest for multiple tones is endless - now I’m thinking about Rivera’s K-Tre. So, in order to preserve my sanity, I think I’ll just go for the Krank Rev .

I know absolutely nothing about Rivera, and haven't read anything hear about 'em - what's the deal with that company? Where are they located, and are they any god?

Well, they make some killer amps, I must say. A couple of bands (Slipknot, Evanescence, Atreyu, Korn, Creed, Whitesnake, Coal Chamber, Depeche Mode) use -or have used- their stuff. AFAIK, they are located in Sun Valley, California.
The Rivera Seven (Slipknot’s Mick signature amp) is one of the most complex amps I’ve seen to date. I tried to build one but failed epically. Those pull-push knobs with endless connections/options drove me crazy.

I played a Rivera in the late 90s. I can't remember the name of it but I remember ninja either being on the amp or maybe that was the name of the amp .

It was fucking awesome though.
Oh yeah, the ninja boost. Came in many amps. Instant gain/treble boost, if I'm not mistaken.

Back on topic...

I'm liking that. The vid is G50CL, but there's this new amp I may check out:

And then, the G50:

I've been looking for some samples of the SIG:X, but had no success. Anyone got some feedback?
