an Ode to my Tofutti

Accepted grammar rules state it is NOT two syllables.

Also: Fuck your haikus. ;)
Can you show me a source? I'm looking online but this kind of search is difficult. It's not that I don't believe you guys, I just can't find any proof one way or the other. It sure as shit SOUNDS like 2 syllables. "Fay-uhl"

Shorter words are usually exempted from syllable rules. And in accordance with law and debate, you made the positive claim, so you have to show proof. ;)

My positive claim is based on what I learned in school and common sense (say the word to yourself... you can't pronounce it with only one syllable, no matter how hard you try). However, I learned English a long time ago and have probably forgotten a lot of the little nuances like you just mentioned. So, I can't show definitive proof. This is why I'm asking you for it. So that I know for sure in the future and forego this sort of ignorance again haha.

Yeah, it's easier to pigeonhole them as monosyllables.
