Nah - the next BDM is going to absolutely blow, just like the first one. Miasma was only good because of what Zach brought to the band, and they just kicked him out like it was nothing, and then talked shit about him and claim he's a shit drummer, despite the fact that they held him from doing some of his most extreme shit (see his playing on the Abigail Williams tour demo, and tell me that isn't one of the loudest gravity blasts you've ever heard).
 
I like both CDs, the band is pretty fun, but mostly an At the Gates ripoff. I loved the drumming on Miasma and thought the production was pretty unique, so I think I prefer that. I'd rather hear Andy work on someone a little more original, but I'll listen to anything he does. :)
 
Miasma fuckin' rules. I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about. I don't hear that "ATG ripoff" stuff. Obviously, the guitars are influenced by melodic stuff, but saying they're a "ripoff" of ATG is quite a stretch.

I like Miasma too. But I think you're being stubborn to say it isn't heavily influenced/ripping off ATG. The only real differences I see between them is the drumming is techy-er, and there are growls in BDM. Other then that it's watered down ATG. Just my opinion. I still like them. I'm such a big ATG fan I enjoy almost all the ripoffs. :lol:

60´s rock n´roll rips off->

40´s Rhythm and blues rips off ->

African American culture... well before that I don´t know... Disco maybe?

you know you're really into it when you dream about an upcoming recording session, as i have done at least once each week for the past 3 months

damnit i cannot wait until april to record my second release on rise/victory with At the Throne of Judgment
 
Yea i can't wait till tomorrow ok cause I'm doing NOT A GOD DAM THING!!!:OMG:

Been tracking drums past 3 days on my band and omg what a pain in the ass it can be sometimes. Our Drummers first time with click track but things are getting better each day though. We got 1 song done first day, 2 songs next day and 3 songs today. Dude is a fast learner which is cool and a trooper, he is playing with a hernia and has surgery in 5 days!!

Yea i will lay in bed and just can't stop thinking about recording/production and things i should do. Shit i dream about it all the time also. It sucks sometimes but others its cool cause i get my best idea's laying in bed right before i go to sleep.

I also catch myself day dreaming all the time about recording/production. I got a problem i know but its a good problem in my eyes!! :heh:

Before anyone could say melodic metal is ripping off ATG, you really should start with Carcass. In actuality, you really should start with Maiden.

Maybe you guys should go back and listen to "Slaughter..." again. ATG is waaaaay more brutal and aggressive than BDM. I hear more Carcass (which is also more brutal and aggro) than ATG. But ATG and Carcass are completely old-school now, so it's kinda weird to say that a "now" band is ripping off shit from 10 years ago. BDM is probably my favorite young band out there.

FWIW, I know how to play pretty much every song on "Slaughter...", nearly all Carcass songs from "Necrotism" through "Wake Up...", and most of "Miasma" on guitar note for note. That's what I'm basing my opinion on.
 
I think the amount of sessions I've done and been present at over time have taken the edge off. I don't obsess anymore about how things will go and what-ifs. I have 3 albums on the horizon and will take each one as it comes.

If you keep stressing about everything all the time, you'll burn yourself out :). There's just too many things that can go wrong on this job, it's best to take them one day at a time.
