another church burning

dumb...

while i support their ideals (the end of religion), there are better ways to voice their opinion than terrorism

I love churches. The best way to end religion is simply to educate people. It takes a long time but gradually the influence of religion will lessen and the influence of reason will expand.

As much as I hate religion and think it should be abolished...and as much as I love black metal, this is fucking stupid, I'm tired of all these pseudo uber trve kvlt fanboys - they're ridiculous. I really can't take them seriously (as I'm sure they were trying to come off as :Smug: ), this just seems like a total black metal parody more than anything. I hope they wore their costumes when they did it.

I agree with that. You're not gonna get your message across to billions of religious people by burning their churches down - if anything you're only helping them to put forth an argument that works against you and will support their opinion on Satanism, heavy metal etc and not to mention just coming off a complete idiot in the process. I agree with the educating part, and not so much attacking someone else's beliefs to an extreme ad nauseum, I mean that would just be ironic now wouldn't it.

I think vs. burning churches people should be more open with their anti-christian ideals. People are so passive when it comes to talk about religion, If you as someone if they are religious and the response is something like "I guess I believe in god". More people need to stick up for themselves and show that christianitys' time is about over.

we should be more open about our choices. i know i'm guilty of bottling up my feelings on religion sometimes. whenever i see someone flaunting their religion i usually feel like speaking up. i'm not really sure what the end result would be if i did though. other than maybe having him put the cross under his shirt or cover that tattoo up. i keep my inverted crosses covered, why cant they?

ya know, if i got a more obvious anti christian tattoo, not only would i be harrassed, i would be forced to have it removed. even if its my religious choice.

You have to give them credit for actually getting out there and doing something to further their beliefs. I disagree with those saying this is counterproductive or the wrong way to convert people and end religion - I doubt the goal of black metal, and specifically this group, is to create some kind of secular humanist utopia. Burning a church isn't supposed to be practical, it's just a symbolic way of attracting attention to ideas. Really more artistic expression than any tactical attack.

I wonder if a list of black metal inspired church arsons exists, I know we have even had one here in Manitoba a few years back. There must have been dozens by now.

secular utopia? i'm all for it. we'd have our own little israel, minus the constant war and destruction. i'd immigrate in a heart beat.

or maybe it already exists. about half of the czech republic is non religious.

People should be open to talk about relgion no matter what. If you dont like relgion fine but keep your mouth shut or give me some good evidence that shows me relgion is wrong.

"Timmy, show me on the elmo where Father Jones touched you"

"right...right...h-here....WHAAAAAA"

Hahahahaha.
If christianity actually followed what Jesus preached it would be ok, but the people behind christianity are idiots. The Pope awhile ago said evolution cannot be proven, now that is an idiot.

you just said people should talk about religion but keep their mouths shut in the same breathe...

i can give hundreds of reasons why religion X is wrong. but its not going to change your mind is it?

all i want is to be treated equally. todays biggest issue isnt racism. its religious persicution (sp?)

this is my biggest issue with religion. people slant it to fit their view. people use religion as a means to kill people, AND GET AWAY WITH IT. the crusades, islamic terrorism, bombing abortion clinics... religion leads to radical people doing radical things. and you cant say its just a couple of whackos. because its been a couple million whackos since the dawn of civilization. clearly, the problem is larger than people

Evolution is a theory, and one that is in constant flux. It is not and cannot be proven at this point. Just because it is shoved down the throats of school children, and all the "smart" people seem to believe it, doesn't mean it is proven.

neither side has done a good job of convincing me theyre right or wrong.

but here is an interesting argument. if god created the world, then maybe he intentionally created science and evolution. eventually science may prove there is a god. hehehehe

in any case, neither side has me convinced that there is or isnt a god

WRONG.

Evolution is FACT - however the Theory of Evolution, which states how evolution occurs - isn't.

We have observed evolution - and the perfect example of this is tuberculosis. For many many years it went dormant because we found a vaccine to eliminate it - all the the little tb buddies were dying out, running around the cellular world - screaming, while there was this little group of tb guys who were fine, didn't die from it. They bided their time and after the massacre began to reproduce and now we have a full new strain of tb to deal with.

...but it's still Tuberculosis. I have no problem with adaptation, it's all around us. But cross species evolution is not a proven fact.

Adaptation IS evolution at work, it is just on a smaller scale - and OUR FOSSIL RECORDS are proof as well.
