Another What's Wrong With Other Music Thread

I usually do give music a chance and try to rarely generalize. From what I've heard the main reasons why I can't stand nu-metal is because of the lack of any sort of melody (songs seem to be strictly rhythm-based), simple, boring song structure, unintelligent lyrics, and how they tend to use a pathetic image to mask their lack of talent. Also, another thing that really pisses me off is how it has been customary for these bands to be referred to as "metal". No, I generally don't give a shit about labeling music either, but it's very frustrating that when I try to talk to others about metal, they think these bands are what metal music is all about and they have no concept about what "metal" really is.

yeah i hate it when people say Ozzy rules because they were on the ozzfest bill with Slipknot, so all these slipknot fans said how ozzy is god and the founder, that made me angry, i dont know much about the old scene as im a bit young, but i keep my mouth shut about what i dont know, they just make stuff up. :(

ok, i hope your not refering to me, as even if i wanted to be in a group im the only one thats even heard of Opeth in my school. , im lucky people in my year don't really care about being in a popular group, and were all just different, everyone i hang around likes rap/rnb mostly , and one nu-pop, and one is into scar and 80's. and no one seems to have any problems with anyone. i see the lower years who hang around in their gangsta rap and nu-pop scater groups mainly. soon we will all grow out of it as old men and women, hopeful wise ones :)

I am not specifically refering to anyone, this is just what I notice in general.

I never claimed that you ever said otherwise. I'm just pointing out that if thats ur only reason for not listening to numetal, surely the same applies to black (I'm just teasing really, I know you probably would listen to well written nu metal)

That is my reason for not listening to the nu-metal songs that I have heard, not why I don't listen to nu-metal in general. If I heard a "nu-metal" song that I liked, I'd listen to it regardless of what it is labeled. The same goes for black metal. I've heard little that appealed to me, yet there are a few.

Well, on this note can I recommend a very good, but quite rare band calle kORN. They are geniuses. To me, their music sums up what its like to be an angst ridden teenager. It is well written, melodic, and beautifull. If you take the time out to listen to this band you will not be dissapointed.... :loco:

Actually, I have a couple of Korn cds. Despite all the Korn-bashing that seems to be so popular I will say they stand high above most of the rest of nu-metal in terms of originality and talent. I'm sure I could write a list as long as my leg of bands that I think are more talented though. I bought the cds on a whim, so to speak, and to be honest, Korn only sparks mild interest at times for me.

i usually dont like nu metal cause its so cheap sometimes it seems like a 5 year old can write the songs. i used to listen to it before i found out about the good stuff. I would like to say that korn (may stand above other nu metal) still sucks cock. i used to love korn and now i look back and say "how could i listen to that stupid shit" most of their stuff is just them making effects with their pedals. the first album was more music then they just totally fuckin blow now. korn blows :loco:
Then i sit there and listen to a great song like demon of the fall. And i think, no nu metal band can write a great song like this. this is why the more extreme metal kicks ass rather then nu metal. it is better written and performed.

I see it differently than most people ,,

I either like it or I don't like . if I hear a Limp Bizkit song ,, and it's good, I don't base how good it is on the band members or the bands past work ,,I just say yeah this is pretty cool , I like this song....

If I don't like a band I don't bother with them , If I see a band on tv that I don't like i'll still watch the video and at least have knowledge of what there like .

some of my friends like Limp Bizkit a lot, and I can see how their stuff is catchy and easy to get into, but I can tell I'd get bored with it if I played them as much as I play some of my metal CDs.

ah well. to each his own.

some people don't have the time or patience to listen to music the way we do.

Of course, the real problem is that most people don't realize there is other stuff out there.
