Here's a link to yet another article where a member from Anthrax is complaining about album sales, check it out, the comments from the "fans" always crack me up...

http://media.fastclick.net/w/get.me...h.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=14865

P.S. I agree with Charlie that MOST Americans are stupid (and yes, I am American), and not just in taste in music but in most everything. But most Europeans are stupid too, just people in general, just my opinion.

all I have to say is charlie really needs to listen to the last few anthrax albums before he says that americans are stupid for liking linkin park because it sounds just like the last one.the last few Anthrax albums sound exactly the same. and let me note that I cant stand Linkin park or any of that crap some people call music
Bushes vocals are annoying

i also think that its funny that scott ian was talking about halford rejoining preist saying that it wasnt priest without him
but I bet that if someone were to suggest joey rejoining anthrax he would say hell no.
look how they treated the possible tour with joey
and yes I belive Joeys interview
Joey is and always will be anthrax. these last few albums are just armored saint

I doubt that anthrax even reads these fourms because there a bunch of money grubbing bastards

And all this coming from a man that listens Arch Enemy, the band that recruited a chick vocalist only to boost their sales... yeah, that's real metal. Poseur.

The fan comments prove people ARE stupid. Don't worry Charlie, Europeans worship crap as well.
I don't agree what MANAML says, but he's 100% right about the Scott/Halford/Joey thing.
And Mental... have you heard that Arch Enemy chick "sing"?

The bashing from Blabbermouth posters again...let's see, how reliable is Blabbermouth again? And these guys read it like gospel. As for what Charlie said, he's right. Although it's always been like that. Growing up I got Warrant's Cherry Pie album (Uncle Tom's Cabin kicked ass) and there were only 2 songs on it that were good, and one got old quickly (Cherry Pie) so I essentially had an album with 1 song. Radio blows. I've called many times about getting Anthrax on the radio, and they won't play them. People follow trends.

I guess it should just be expected now though, the people following trends thing. There isn't much any of us are ever going to be able to do to change it as long as Pop Idol, MTV etc are still around. I just thank fuck that we've still got bands who are in it for the music like Anthrax

The Blabbermouth thing made me laugh; like someone said above me, it just proves Charlie's point :D

I think part of the problem is that nobody, outside of Anthrax fans, even knows the album is out. They're also barking up the wrong tree by continuing to court MTV and asking folks like us to bug TRL to show "Safe Home". Anthrax's popularity didn't come via radio or MTV - it came by word of mouth. Anthrax isn't Creed - that's why we love 'em. They need to go back to their roots and make themselves known by touring, touring, touring. Their last couple of headlining U.S. tours pretty much hit only major cities - and skipped a good number of 'em, at that. If it's a financial thing (understandable as touring is expensive), they should take the opening slot on somebody else's tour.

I understand Charlie's frustration - and he's right about the declining tastes of the American rock fan - but IMHO, they're not doing a very good job promoting the new CD.

They didn't ask, we here have done this ourselves. It gives us something to do while we are at work "working". :)

Arch enemy are lame!

I think the only countrys in Europe were people don't like all that korn linkin pakr shit is Norway Sweeden Poland Finland and a few more!

But do anthrax really wanna get big again for 2 or 3 years then have all teh kids stop likeiung them cause it's kool to like drum and bass dance music again?

I don't know where these retards from blabbermouth come from. All they ever post are negative comments. Charlie and Bush weren't slagging their own fans. Anthrax are probably the most fan friendly band I've ever met. What happened to the days when people listened to music because of the music rather than a comment made by a band member on an interview??

Also, you shouldn't believe everything you read. Interviewers have a way of taking things out of context or misconstruing phrases. You can't print certain subtleties and sarcasm.

Like I've said many times before Blabbermouth is fucking pointless. All people do is bitch about EVERYTHING. Hardly a positive comment on there ever. And Charlie is right, Americans, for the most part, are stupid when it comes to following trends and having gay ass taste in music but sadly that's the way it is and there's no end in sight.

BINGO. You stole my thunder. Don't lay all the blame on the record-buying public. The record label has to take some of the blame. Have you seen any advertising for the new album? Heck, TVT even put Sevendust commercials for their debut album on WWF (now WWE) Raw, and that was back when wrestling was at its peak of popularity (meaning the ad probably wasn't cheap.)

We saw the TV spot for the new album (which was very well done) on Anthrax.com but has anyone actually seen it on TV? I haven't.

Yes, America is an extremely trend-driven society. Nobody will argue that. But people won't buy what they don't know exists. That last sentence sounds pretty fucking stupid but you get the idea. :loco:

Yeah, I watched bits and pieces of the VMA's. It seemed that the same artists were nominated for each category. And the kiss. That in a nutshell were the VMA's and pretty much where the U.S. is as far as their tastes in music goes. It's all just one big who's wearing what and who's cool.

Anthrax album sales were what they were because at that time they were part of a trend. Think how huge the Big Four were back in the day. That was the trend, hence the sales. Now Linkin Park and whoever else is the trend, hence their sales. Do you really think in 20 years Linkin Park will still be selling eleven million copies of each album they put out?
At some point your gonna weed out the trendys and all those people. Then what you have left are the fans. You can make a living selling to those fans and playing the 1200-1500 seat clubs. Look at Overkill they never really hit the big time close but not quite. Now they release an album every couple of years, do the tours and eek out a living doing what they like. Do Anthrax diserve to sell more albums? Of course, IMHO they should be bigger than metallica. But I don't think the way to do that is call the same people your trying to sell a product to stupid. I understand what hes getting at and angel, but it just comes across as a little harsh. Hopefully with some steady touring, word of mouth, and maybe a stroke of luck this album will sneak up in sales.

Whatever. Charlie got taken out of context. Everyone knows he doesn't really think that Americans are stupid.

Why can't we focus on the good things he does???? Like introducing me to Cristina Scabbia so that I could talk Simpsons with her.

Another thing about the VMA's. Johnny Cash was nominated for a video that I've never seen them show. How hypocritical is that?

Why don't they display the new Anthrax album in the newly released section that's out in front??

Apparently they show it on MTV 2 all the time.

Besides it's not the MTV Videos we show music awards. They never show videos as it is.
