Anthrax is getting bashed again

All I gotta say is Mentalmeltdown,

I see you were playing HELSTAR's "The King Is Dead"......

Now that's fucking real metal!

Do you have all of their stuff?

I own the whole damn catalog and, living in Houston, am pretty cool with James Rivera. What are your thoughts on Destiny's End? Seven Witches?

Final question in James worship.. did you get to see him sing on the final Flotsam and Jetsam tour??

Absolutely fucking amazing!!!!

Fuckity, fuck fuck!!

Hell yeah man! I own all Helstar albums except Winds of War! And I also have both Destiny's End and all 4 Seven Witches! Yes, James is imo, one of the best metal singers ever! Just the way he sings on Mental Messiah... wow! I got to meet him when SW were opening for Symphony X, pretty cool guy too!

Why can't we focus on the good things he does???? Like introducing me to Cristina Scabbia so that I could talk Simpsons with her.

I wish Lacuna Coil were with Anthrax for at least one of the 3 shows I went to. :erk:

Johnny's Right.
*focuses on good things* Here's one: Charlie bought me Starbucks and gave me plenty of beer.

The bashing from Blabbermouth posters again...let's see, how reliable is Blabbermouth again?

Well, they are the largest metal news source, so you basically get what the world at large thinks from them. Actually, they aren't a "source", per se, since they only reprint what they find at other news or official band websites. If anything they print is inaccurate, it's because someone else lied or fucked-up.

Sludge is where a lot of the real investigative dirt is dug-up, and they're right more than half the time. :Smug:

Anthrax album sales were what they were because at that time they were part of a trend. Think how huge the Big Four were back in the day. That was the trend, hence the sales. Now Linkin Park and whoever else is the trend, hence their sales. Do you really think in 20 years Linkin Park will still be selling eleven million copies of each album they put out?
At some point your gonna weed out the trendys and all those people. Then what you have left are the fans. You can make a living selling to those fans and playing the 1200-1500 seat clubs. Look at Overkill they never really hit the big time close but not quite. Now they release an album every couple of years, do the tours and eek out a living doing what they like. Do Anthrax diserve to sell more albums? Of course, IMHO they should be bigger than metallica. But I don't think the way to do that is call the same people your trying to sell a product to stupid. I understand what hes getting at and angel, but it just comes across as a little harsh. Hopefully with some steady touring, word of mouth, and maybe a stroke of luck this album will sneak up in sales.

That kind of shit only works if you're a young band on the rise, with a young and energized fanbase. Metal bands rarely make a comeback as strong as what Thrax has done, and they almost NEVER see it affect their commercial sales. The only way I've ever seen rock acts get big again, is either by whoring out to make a generic commercial radio album (usually with a lot of "special guests", like Santana), or by getting opening spots for a lot of big groups, and being cited over and over again in interviews as an "important influence" (like King Crimson with Tool, Primus, Radiohead, and Dream Theater).

I don't think any of those are gonna happen with Anthrax soon. Sorry.

why complaine about Timber when you had N'Sync pics all over the site. What does he want?? sell as much copies as St.Anger and see his face every hour on MTV??Then youre nothing but an MTVWhore youreself, he just want to make the big $$$$$$$$$, sorry Sir Charles , that's not gonna happen with a shit promoting company like Sanctuary!!BTW same crap on tv and radio in Europe as in US!!!

Enough about how loyal Anthrax fans are.....the fans bought over a million copies of Among the Living and only 30,000 copies of WCFYA. Did theses fans just wake up one day and not like Anthrax anymore? Probably not. They don't know that Anthrax is around anymore. I read Scott's tour diary about how bad the Texas crowds were. 99% of the people didn't know Anthrax was coming until a few days before the show! Those 99% are working Americans and can't stop at the drop of a dime and and spend their paychecks to see bands like that. We gotta know ahead of time. I went to the show with expectations of buying as much merchandise as I could. However, I can't afford to throw down $25 for a t-shirt that probably won't fit me once I wash it. Also, when did Charlie start charging for autographs? He's not in Poison! Enough already. I'm tired of hearing the bitching. Get out and EARN some fans back!

You mean those drum heads? They're $elling like hotcakes! They gotta make money somehow, since no one will buy their album. You're right, no one know's about the album. But it's not Anthrax's fault. I think it's someone's fault, but not the band's.

BTW- I saw Charlie give out about 30 or so autographs for free after gigs.

As someone who made the May show in Norfolk I must comment in. All the band signed before the show. I got cd covers signed by everyone, they were all very nice and no they didn't charge.

~I went to Blabbermouth and what I found was a shitload of Roadrunner Records ads. Metal? Hardly. Every metal band that ever meant anything on Roadrunner US left because they were getting fucked over for the latest mall-core.
