natural disaster has "pulled under at 2000 m/s" which kicks ass and just makes me fucking angry... i hate when bands still CAN rule, only they choose to SUCK instead, yet tease us with ONE great song
And they didn't even want to include that song on the album. Glad they did. Violence is brilliant too. Apart from that... well. A Natural Disaster is probably my least favourite Anathema release, closely followed by Judgement. A Fine Day To Exit on the other hand is a great album.

Curious about the next Antimatter album. Antimatter without Duncan Patterson. :(

"Pre-production is already underway for the fourth Antimatter album, entitled 'Leaving Eden'. Recording will take place sometime in the first half of 2006, possibly in Studio 33, Liverpool.

As yet, the only confirmed guest musician for 'Leaving Eden' is Danny Cavanagh, who will play lead guitar. It is hoped that Rachel Brewster (violin, Planetary Confinement) will reprise her role."

Do I care? :) There is a handful of good songs on Judgement, but nothing really outstanding. Some parts of that album bore and even annoy me. Nothing of that when I listen to A Fine Day To Exit.

I refuse to compare pre-Alt4 stuff to latter-day Anathema other than that I prefer the old stuff.

So no more female vocals? :(

whats planetary confinment like?
Almost as good as Saviour. So give Saviour a listen too if you have a chance. Planetary Confinement is not as fluent, it lacks a certain consistency. Mick and Duncan recorded separately which you can clearly hear on the record. It's obvious both within the single songs as well as in the tracklist: One song by Duncan, one song by Mick, etc.

Btw, no I don't think you''re a dick. It's fine. :D

Since I enjoy Mick's tracks more than Duncan's on PC, I'm not worried about a decline on the next album, though another bleak instrumental closer will be sorely missed...on the same note, Violence is a great attempt at entering post-rock territory. I completely disagree with the assessment of recent Anathema, but like Exit more than most despite the borrowings Jay is so quick to point out.

The release date for this has been set at 13th April. I'm really interested in hearing what it'll be like. I personally thought all of Mick Moss's tracks were better than any of Duncan Patterson's on Planetary Confinement so this next album could be really fantastic.

They better ask Duncan to turn right around and assist with the next album. Though I have only listened to it one time, and I may eat my words later, the new release has fallen flat. All the charm that was laced with in the previous offerings is nowhere to be found here. Antimatter is a band who puts me in a somber, yet tranquil state. I responded to "Leaving Eden" with indifference and a sigh.
