Today in news.
Just 7 confirmed deaths (all in Mexico City, which have more than 10 millions of habitants), and 13 possible infected, and this is the peak of the situation according to the World Health Organization.

The common influenza lethality rate is about 0.1% to 0.2% and that's mostly children and the elderly. Virulence of swine flu is much higher and has mostly been affecting healthy adults, similar to the 1918 Spanish flu.

I child in Texas just died. And though I feel very sorry for the parents and their loss, people need to remember...it was a 2 year old. They don't have strong immunities and can die from any strain of the flu. But they are already making it out to sounding like the beginning of the end. Though I do need to be a little more careful, as my wife is pregnant and would be wise to not get sick with anything.

It's the flu. The regular strains of flu kill people as well, the only difference is that this can be carried over cross-species. Requires no more medical attention that a regular flu, you just might contract it differently.

And thank you for speaking common sense about the flu. I'm tired of seeing everyone over react. Prime example: Egypt, slaughtering all those pigs. Ummm....yeah. You could have at least called me first. I would have showed up with a frying pan and roasting pot!!

Nobody died outside of Mexico because their health system isn't very good. And a great deal of their population live in extreme poverty so the first people that got it were farmers, so it's "normal" that they die because of this. But there shouldn't be any reason for anyone else to die in the world we live nowadays. But still, I had a trip to UK planned and since their cases has gone up to 60 or so I guess I shall have to cancel... Luckily there are still 0 cases here in Portugal

We got poverty but don´t dramatize, Nobody has died even here, you guys must understand, that people die cause unthreated flu everydays, is fucking normal, that`s how life work, you don´t take care of yourself, you fucking die, that`s it, we have legal drugs now, a nobody is talking about that, that single fucking new would have ended in manifestations against and some days of chaos because of it, but we have this "Phantom Menace" and everybody is scared, but nobody is getting sick or dying, still they are scared because they are watching it in the fucking news.
Some say, how can be a lie if it is getting along the world???
Remember the chupacabra?? people saw that fucking thing even in argentina, it supposly started in USA but Mexico was it stronger point, well at that time we were getting fucked by one of our biggest recession, Peso were devaluated as fuck, and the president at the time was exposed because he was stealing a lot of public money and a lots of stuff, and people were getting insecure, but it started to fear the chupacabra, and everyone forgot about the devaluation, and th same party was in the power again.
It`s happening again, don´t believe the fucking news, im here, i´m not wearing that fucking thing in the mouth, and im not getting sick, nobody around me is getting sick, and in our local hospital, nobody is dying.
I´m tired of the image that Mexico have for the world, always negative things. My country is beatiful and have an interesting culture background, but only things you know is about the crime, Delincuence, fucking flu, poverty, insecurity and just negative things, all countries have their bad side as mine, but everyone is scared to come here, bunch of pussys, hahah

I was not bashing your country, honest. I've never been there but it's on my top list of countries to visit, and yes I love your cultural background and heritage, for me is one of the most interesting in the world. What I was talking is what the media coverage are passing on TV, that's the thing. I believe what you say, the first thing I thought when I saw this whole explosion about the pandemic, was that it was just to distract people from the economic crisis, it could be, but it also couldn't be. The truth is that 150 or so people died in Mexico, at least that's what they say, and I don't believe they would lie about that, but it's what you say, many people die with flu, this one is just a bit stronger and if not assisted properly by a doctor could lead to death. Here in Europe no one has died yet, and I believe, like I said before, there is no reason to die because of this. This virus is just a mutation of another one, flu virus is always mutating, so i believe it's no big deal.

I understand, and i agree with you in many points.
They say 150 people died, but they also said thet only 8 is confirmed cause the swine flu, as i said before, only Mexico city has more than 10 millions. i don´t know how to explain a lot of other things without getting misunderstood, but basically they are fucking the country even more, is just sick, they are closing restaurants and small bussines, my mom have a small food bussines, and her sales are getting down dramatically because of this fucking shit, i also tired about the people here being so dumb, paranoid is reigning right now, is funny in one side but in the other is so sad. if the news say to them "there are ghosts everywhere killing people with laser beams, keep safe in home!!" they would fucking believe it, because is in the news, because is on TV.
