Any other bands like Bodom in the HB/FTR era?

Look also Disease Illusion. is an emerging Italian band that makes death. Do not have keyboards, and technically are not monsters, but not bad.

Omnium Gatherum- they are from Finland, too

1. Norther. Try songs like "Mirror Of Madness" or "Darkest Time" They have had the same "lots of melodies > less melodies" as Bodom, but they're awesome. Their most melodic albums are "Dreams Of Eternal War" and Mirror Of Madness"
2. Kalmah. Heavier singing style than Bodom, but awesome. They still have loads of melodies in their songs. Try "Swamphell" and "Hades"
3. Imperanon. Even more melodies than Bodom. Try "Blade"
4. Diablo. My neighbours band. Slightly less melodies than Bodom but I still like them. Try "The Preacher", "Icaros" or "Distorted"
5. Omnium Gatherum. Can't say much, found them a week ago. Heavier than Bodom. Try "Ego" and "Nail"

Norther are lame COB poseurs who do have some diamonds among their material, but there's a reason they never became that legendary.

Kalmah has some of the same mysterious vibes and creative melodies as old COB, but their material is mostly just boring crap.

Diablo have nothing in common with COB.

But on topic, basically every finnish melodic death metal band from 90s or early 2000s is more or less influenced by COB, so they are easy to find. Some:

Great suggestions everyone. I do enjoy the first 2 Norther albums, and a select few Kalmah songs, but the rest is mostly new stuff to me, I'm checking it out now

I've checked out all these bands, and unfortunately none of them really do much for me. ToC - Cold Bits of Fire had a cool intro but after that it was just decent. Any more suggestions are welcome.

Evobyte: Try Skyfire. Try "Dimensions Unseen". I found them a few weeks ago, and have heard maybe 1/10th of their songs so I can't say if they're awesome or not as a whole, but I like the few songs I've heard.

Language barrier. There's a reason Japanese loved Hatebreeder so much. I haven't honestly checked them out too much, but maybe when I have time.
