Any Religious people out there?

I think this proves something....

No matter our perspectives on life, we can all stand beside each other when it comes to music.... to speak through music is just amazing.

I completely agree that a person doesn't need "God" to know whats right, and a lot of people don't need "God" to do whats right. But I also believe a weak society needs a god to inflict consequences otherwise I bet a simple minded people couldn't function if they knew their were no ultimate consequences.

I think that kind of society is where strong human leaders arise. An entire people won't be weak forever. If a social structure dissolves that far, into that state of anarchic "freedom" that some people seem to be looking forward to, then some charismatic big-mouth will always be there to start building little power structures and prescribing punishments again.

Now this is just my opinion, but I think a main reason why America is pro Israel is because our leader is a Christian. In the Bible it says that the Jews are in Israel at the end of the world where they can be eliminated for their sins. Of course it seems to be popular in America to be pro Israel anyway.

That's because the American media is controlled by Jews... </joke>

Seriously though, who knows? The workings of governments are like an iceberg, and the mind of a President as inscrutable as that of a penguin. Yeah, that probably made sense.

Hey why didn't the quote work

You chopped off the start of the closing tag.

I despise Christians that blindly follow what they think are their 'beliefs.' They just follow what their preist says with no question and go to Church and feel horrendously bored but still go so they don't go to hell. And they only follow "God's" word out of fear and only believe in a god for the convenience just in case there are consequences for their 'sins.'

Those are fundamentalist Christians. They're the real hardcore kind that push belief in Christ on you. My church is filled with them, but not one myself. You do what you want to do. I'm not going to force myself on others.

Christian here...nondenominational.

Christian and dont follow christianity blindly btw. I always laugh when i see posts saying they hate christianity. There are so many religions under christianity btw so is hard to label all christians and christian religions as bad. Same goes for muslims even though sometimes you have to wonder I think most muslims are good people.

I'm glad to see this thread in a metal forum, since "metal" and "religion" so often are treated as oxymoronic. It's funny to see some metalheads look at Christians like me and cry "Sheep!" and then invariably go on some self-fulfilling diatribe about the evils of religion. It's also funny to see hyper-religious people look at metal albums that have pentagrams and "666s" (which aren't really symbols of "Satan" anyway) and cry "Devil-worshipper!" and then invariably go on some self-fulfilling diatribe about the evils of metal.

Great thread, though, and great discussions!

I don't despise all Christians or all people of any religion. I just don't repspect anyone that follows their religion merely out of habit. I'm sure in any religion there are people like this.

Haha I once heard this chick that claimed she was an atheist talking about what she was getting for Christmas.

glad to hear someone likes this thread :)

What i really despise are people that call me a terrorist, or a moon worshipper because I'm Muslim. They refuse to use reason... [i dont worship the moon, and terrorism is stupid.]

People should study a religon thoroughly from many perspectives before following it...

i loathe middle eastern religion, though i support it when practiced in the middle east.

a "deity", though i certainly don't believe an anthropomorphized one, very well could've kick started the universe, but i've no desire to humble myself before it. no more than i've the desire to humble myself before gravity, at least. in other words, god is a mere metaphysical supposition, whether it actually exists/existed is irrelevant to me.

I function on a system of beliefs and "codes" that are similar to Odinism.. but I would definetly not call myself an Odinist, because that would be sort of like the person that says they are Christian, yet "sin" frequently and never attend a service. So basically, I do not devote myself to any religion.

I honestly think the most spiritual thing for me at the time is music. I do believe there is a higher power, I just think that all modern day religions have been twisted and perverted to where the laws of men can use them.

It's ridiculous how pompous church buildings and other places of worship are. I don't think "God" would care about how nice a church looks specially since its turning religion into a fucking business. Because an organizition might have to make compromises if they don't have enough members to pay for the building.
