Any suggestions for a great digital camera that wont break my bank?

Canon Powershot A630
Canon Powershot S3
Sony DSC-W55
And the one chromatose owns... Fujifilm something.

So, what should one take into condiseration when purchasing a camera? Megapixels? Zoom?

Pic taking for the laymen btw, no professional shit obviously. Im sure 7 megapixels is more than enough, no?

at some point megapixels become pointless, and more important is the light sensitivity (for concerts and nighttime, otherwise it'll be blurry and grainy as shit), and if the zoom is optical or digital... optical being the better.

Digital zoom works somewhat like in CSI, where they zoom in on a blurry black and white picture of the bad guy and go "computer, create pixels. enhance. contrast. Tint. Colour. and suddenly create a vivid full colour 3d image that can be rotated around so they notice the scar on the back of his neck that fits a vague description from a crazy hobo dude.

Canon ftw ... just got one for someone as a gift ... it almost made me buy one for myself ...

one thing i don't like is the super small size of these cameras ... its like a toy in my hand ... but then again everything is

hahahah ... i fucking knew that was coming ... i was ready to put the ( ... ) after my statement ...

It's a Panasonic Lumix! It's nice but I like my Sony Cybershot better, doesn't wash faces out as much as his. Doesn't Thanatopsis/king of photos have a Sony Cybershot? :loco:

Derick had a Canon Powershot for years though and it was always a great camera til a lil button on it broke. Seeing as how it was ancient he just got the new camera.
