Any suggestions for a great digital camera that wont break my bank?

Fuck if I know. I'm in the same situation as you are. I just want a low budget camera for every day tomfoolery. Several people in this thread reco'd the Sony Cybershot, and that's a pretty stellar price from what I have gathered.

Where's Cool Cara when you need her?

I'm not sure about that model, it doesn't have the Carl Zeiss lens from what I can tell. I own the DSC - W55, got it at Circuit City for $200, memory card included. Looks like CC has the camera on clearance now, sans memory card. I highly recommend it though, as would Captain Beard.

It takes good pictures :loco:

I'll just reiterate that my "budget" Canon ($100 in 2004) is a piece of crap. Plan on spending a good $300. That should get you something really nice these days.

y'all keep your dinky little sonys -- i'm due to get some cash rollin in soon and i'm gonna spend most of it on an olympus e-510 with the double lens kit (14-42 and 40-150 -- 28-84 and 80-300 35mm equiv. respectively) soon

this shit is gonna RULE HELL all over the place -- image stabilization, dust removal, live view, the workz.

i'll need an american dudeguy to help me out though (it's outrageous -- this kit is about twice as expensive in sweden as it is in america but i need to have it land in america first and re-sent in an anonymous box to avoid swedish 25% sales tax) but that's a later thread

it has a mechanism that shakes the dust from the sensor and collects it on a strip of sticky tape (!) inside the camera body

Because you want to hide your GIGANTIC broken LCD TV (from playing WII sports after a vigorous round of masturbation that left you with sweaty palms) with a really large low quality blurry picture.
