Anyone else here into meditation?

Gojira, there are many types of meditation and what you describe about contemplating reality is one of them. Just thinking about a specific subject.

And you don't have to meditate to bring about hypnagogic imagery. Just go to sleep...as you already know. If it interests you any try to stay aware of these images as long as you can without drifting off to sleep. You may be amazed at how complex they can become and the scenes they can start to form.

I'm quite interested in knowing if you have achieved anything with this.

I have. My father is a clinical hypnotist and he has passed some info off to me. It's really neat and it's amazing really how well it works. ANYONE can be hypnotized in a clinical setting, some people say they can't be but they can. I've had the best results in hypnosis for sports, but it can be used for anything really. Even just chilling out after a bad day. It works great when I get depressed too.

Yeah I guess contemplating reality is a form of meditation, but it sucks :) I'm sick of contemplating reality. Quite a few times, before I fall asleep I've thought "Reality is just a big fucking hoax. When I disappear into sleep now, I'll stay in sleep and never wake up", but I keep waking up, so reality is a persistent fucker and it does exist apparently, since it's mocking me :D

Yeah, the shapes can become quite cool, and it's also cool how they infinitely repeat. They radiate from the center and outwards, then die off and start over. But I think it gets annoying after a while, I don't know if I would want to stay awake and just watch them.. I'm afraid pink elephants will emerge. And then rape me.

No but seriously, what purpose do those shapes serve? Why do I see them before going to sleep? More importantly... can I eat them? (a bit of "morning" sarcasm is good).

I tried looking for more info on the imagery but found nothing about why it happens. As far as what purpose they serve....for me, I can use them to emerse myself in a very lucid dream. Other things as well but these are things some of yall seem to not be so open to.

Cool.

I'm actually open to many things (no, don't think anything naughty), as long as it's not TOO fucked up and weird.

I actually even tried the "spirit in the glass" (directly translated from swedish, lol), but not a single fucking thing happened. It COULD've been the wrong conditions too. As far as I remember, we were 4 people doing it, all of us were drunk, we didn't have an Ouija board or whatever the fuck they're called, so we drew some shit on a paper and put it under the glass disk on a table to make it not slide around. We didn't use a candle to heat up the air inside the glass etc etc, so if that shit works as people claim it does, I guess the spirit was like "Dude, fuck these guys, I ain't gonna talk to these fuckers". We kept giggling and being unserious about it and the result was as expected. Nothing.

But one of us who were there had done it before... some 7-8 years ago and I kinda trust him as he wouldn't lie about those things (he is quite an anti-religious/atheist type of guy), and he says it worked for him back then. So I dunno... well whatever!
