anyone here like kamelot?

I absolutely LOVE Kamelot, they were one of the first power metal bands I got into. I heard "Nights of Arabia" and was blown away! Khan is definately one of fav vocalists along with Russel.

As far as the pre khan stuff, there's some really good songs, but the singer kinda sucked, but if you listen to the live album that the name of for some reason escapes me at the moment, you can hear Khan sing "Call Of the Sea" and it's amazing!

indeed, pre-khan era didn't suck! Just harder to get used to, and well unless you are a hardcore power metal fan musician... You would never have picked up a kamelot Album-if it wernt for Khan... Enough said, its like saying the pre Russell Allen era sucked, and it didn't it was a differ sound, and not a bad one!

A question...? Am I the only progressive Metal / Hard Rock fan that doesnt dig Kamelot? I honestly just cant get into those guys..... dont get me wrong .. I can find a good song here and there in what Ive listened too.. but in my opinion they get very tacky at times. Im in no way dissing Kamelot .. but they just arent for me.

I find it a trend now-a-days that musicians or just fans of progressive music tend to go with the flow when it comes to giving an honest opinion. Its easy to always say " yeah.. those guys are doing some great stuff... or .. they are awesome"

Speak whats truly on your mind :)

well in fact i agree with you guys about the pre-khan era... "[it] sucked" is not exactly SUCKED haha so yes, it's a bit difficult to get used to it, plus its former singer (that I can't stand at all) plus its production, which could've been better... but hey, it is kamelot just like S-X is in their S/t album (by the way, truly amazing)

They're coming to New York!?!?!?! Now i'll see 2 great bands in B.B. Kings (The other being Stratovarius, as stated in my thread)

i have dominion and it sucks but i have black halo and thanks for reminding me i have it because i havent really got around to it.

I don't have any Kamelot albums so I will try and find some samples of theirs somewhere.

I do however have Conception's last album Flow which is excellent. They were one of Khan's older bands which also featured Tore Ostby formerly of Ark. Highly recommended.

With out bootlegging, or waiting 6 months! The only Cd you will probably find in stores is Black Halo! For some reason thats all they got now days, and the rest of the albums they're like "you need to give us a 20$ deposit and wait 6 months for the CD to come in" I got all the Cd's as Gifts from Family, so they either got them from the store or ordered them in advanced! The only Album I actually bought was The Black Halo, and I go to the music store every week... I only see that 1... however this week at HMV i saw almost the full discography of Symphony X! I like orgazmed on the spot

That was already Khan singing ;) His debut album with Kamelot was with "Siege Perilous" in 1998.

KAMELOT is my favourite band(Symphony X comes right after :) ).

I was lucky enough to fulfill my dream, when I received an invitation from Thomas Youngblood to be their guest singer in two big metal festivals this summer. That was an unforgettable experience!

If I would know how, I would post a couple of pics of my permormance...but I´m a bit ignorant in this things :Smug: .. :Spin: he,he...sorry!

Indeed. I'm a Kamelot fan but I prefer Conception (my favourite band ever). Tore Ostby is an awesome guitarist, and Khan's vocal lines in Conception are really original. Conception sounds more progressive and atmospheric than Kamelot. "Lunar Sanctum" is the only Kamelot song which actually sounds close to Conception.

Btw, in my opinion, best Conception album is "In Your Multitude". A masterpiece of melodic prog/power metal. "Flow" and "Parallel Minds" are highly recommended too.

Cool. I bought Flow back in 1997 and really enjoy it so why the hell haven't I bought any of their other 3 since?! I occasionally remember to try and source a copy of In Your Multitude as I have heard that it's a very good album and one prior to Flow. Another good band/artist is DC Cooper of whom Tore Ostby was guitarist. I'm going to make it compulsory to buy more of these albums in the very near future. :) Same goes for Kamelot as I heard a few songs yesterday for the first time and I was very impressed. :hotjump:

Anyone noticed this?
Silent Goddess copies The Eyes Of Medusa (listen the choruses)

;) Well, they´re somewhat similar.
