any awesome bands out there?

You MUST listen to :worship: Pain of Salvation :worship: first of all, of course. And try "The Window Purpose" by Wolverine (prog metal with some death metal influence - :headbang: ). As for Rhapsody, try any of the first 3 (Legendary Tales, Symphony of Enchanted lands, Dawn of Victory) as the others are just repetitions (but Luca Turilli's King of the Nordic Twilight is nice, too). I also really love Nightwish and Tool, but I guess you know them already, don't you? ;) Did I mention Star One (with Russell!)? And, if you like melodic death metal, Dark Tranquillity's "The Gallery" and "Damage Done" are great :headbang: . But that's a whole different kind of music...

Hi.

Assuming, by your name, that you like PROG more than power/symphonc metal...is that right?

Anyway, here's my two cents: ARK (especially Burn the Sun) if you haven't heard this cd, you better put on some diapers before you do!!! (Tore Ostby, Jorn Lande, John Macaluso - you're a drummer right? this guy is brutally fantastic! - also with Randy Coven and Mats Olausson)

Pain of Salvation - These guys define originality! Not surprisingly, they're not for everyone. They are the most dynamic, most emotional band I've ever heard! I'm utterly bewildered that anyone who can be unmoved by this band, and yet, there are people who hate them (shrug) their loss.

You mentioned Kamelot, so I'm assuming you're familiar with Khan. but you didn't mention Conception!!! If you haven't heard them, they're another MUST HAVE for you!!! All four album kick ASS! This is Tore Ostby's band before Ark, with Khan on vocals!!!

Another new band that kicks total ass is SunCaged! Marcel Coenen is a MONSTER guitarist (formerly of Lemur Voice...which is ANOTHER AWESOME prog-metal band!)

-Have fun on your journey!

Seriously Pain of Salvation, that's my runner up, with Dream Theater as the best!

Buy anything of Pain of Salvation, everything is fantastic, Daniel Gildenlöw has the best voice in history!
