Anyone in a death metal band?

I've been growling for quite a time and singing a little less, check this thread out for more info.

Growl

I'm explaining to a guy how to do growls. And if you damage your vocal chords it can't be reversed, so becareful with that thing :p

@Joker... Love that... reminds me of old school Bay Area thrash.

@Unicorn... interesting influences... I like the sound. :)

Ehm...say what you say but I don´t think voice should be harassed that way. I´ve sometimes lost my voice partially after singing...rock style...or something, but never growling.

Though I´ve got a fucking sore throat a few times after some drunken growl-yowl and warm beer with Thales guys :) But the result only is my whole neck and throat are so sore I can´t sing/growl loud.

Of course it´s all about growling style. The style I use puts pressure on false vocal chords instead of the real ones thus allowing me to sing clean vocals as if I hadn't growled at all.

Still, if I take a few weeks break in growling my throat gets a bit sore on the first growling time.

Anyway, I think you should experiment with lower volume first and find a way that doesn´t hurt that much.
