Now that we're talking about Arcturus, I just read a message on a Dutch news site about Mayhem (where Hellhammer drums as you know).

http://www.nu.nl/algemeen/2123918/metalband-sloopt-hotelkamer-tilburg.html

Short translation: Mayhem had a gig at some Dutch place, and the hotel they spent the night in was totally ruined, they broke everything, threw things down the street. All of Mayhem and some crew members are arrested now and they will be let go once they pay the fine of 5000,- EUR :p

Yes, they got booked in some tiny pub. The gig sold out, and was subsequently moved to a slightly bigger venue. Apparently it wasnt party enough, so they trashed the place. It's rumored too that there was some trouble with the Romanian promoter, and in the end the band paid for air tickets themselves too...

yes yes this is the ulver I remember. I Troldskog Faren Vild Quite unexpected, but glorious it is. I applaud Garm.

Mayhem blew it, they are in hell now. This arrest won't help them get into countries for tours.

from youtube:

Setlist (from what I can recall) included:

Little Blue Bird,
Funebre,
For the Love of God,
Let the Children Go,
Porn Piece or The Scars of Cold Kisses,
In the Red,
Hallways of Always,
Theme III,
Capitel I, I Trolgskog Faren Vild

thanks bro!

ontopic: I would like to see Øyvind Hægeland as Arcturus' frontman once again. According to the Nebelmondparty bootleg, his voice is remarkable! They should release album with him on vocals.

Uh... I have 4 bootlegs with him, the vocals are really bad on some songs... Especially Chaos Path

now that people are talking about sham mirrors here anyway, mind a little sidetrack? do any of you arcturus geeks now who Dag F. Gravem is, the bass player? And how he came involved with this album?

amm, in my opinion, he sang Kinetic (nebelmondparty) like Garm.

It would be good to get some new, fresh blood in the band.

He did Nightmare Heaven miles away better than Simen too. Also Øyvind has (far) better grim vocals, but Vortex did an incredible job on SS, besides he's better with LMI material.

If Arcturus returns, I hope they play more Aspera/TSM songs.

NO. Nightmare Heaven by Simen is amazing. His growls might not be good but honestly I don't care  If one style has to suffer, or be eliminated, it's growls... Arcturus hasn't even used much growl vocals on ANY of their recent albums. :heh:

On Shipwrecked? amazing?... well, on the DVD it is, since it was edited and re-recorded as fuck.

About Arcturus' grim vocals, that's Garm's fault. I was talking about Aspera songs like Raudt Og Svart where he sounds awful - even on the final product... even the current Vintersorg sounds more balanced than Simen - Mr V grims has been always top notch, his cleans now are really good.

I dunno what happened to Vortex, with Borknagar he had a more-than-decent grim voice, specially on Q (even if there're 3-4 layers of vocals on it...)
