Actually, this whole "true" thing is as gay as Manowar. It's funny and all, but whoever gives a damn is just an idiot. That's not what I'm talking about, it's not about listening to gay music, as I still dig some pretty fucking gay ass music like Cyndi Lauper for example. I mean, I actually have "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" in my iPod, sometimes it plays just before Anaal Nathrakh kicks in.

Nah, it's about the "using metal to fit in" that I'm talking about. In the beginning, when I discovered Black Sabbath, yeah, I admit that I felt that headbangers were a group of strong, independent individuals who forged their own tastes, like you said. Obviously that is still true in many cases, but lately it has been changing: there are some bands like Avenged Sevenfold and new metal in general that are bringing a whole wave of angst-filled teens to the scene.

So it's not about strong will or musical taste, but of an attitude people try to mimic, because they see it in others, this so-called independence, free-thinking, they want to stand out, not fit in, but they do that by following a pattern, a group. As someone said, rebellion somehows hints of intelligence, even though that's not always true.

So answering your question with sincerity: I listen to metal and also hard rock, blues, funk, jazz, ska, surf music and even some californian punk. I love Nile and The Ventures. I have Andrew WK, George Clinton and freaking Jaco Pastorius in my iPod.

So no, I don't want anyone to be a tr00 metalhead. You can even listen to emo if you behave like a decent human being (like that's possible, but anyway). What made me post here is that people behave like freaking idiots, that's all. I've been a teen and I never behaved like a sheep, trying to fit in by being different. Trends are just simply dumb.

And yeah, metal is becoming trendy. And nah, I'm not a hardcore Bodom fan, even though I was listening to Hatebreeder at ear-splitting volume when I arrived at work today.
