Is there a stereotypical metal head occupation in the US then ?

A few of my friends who are metal heads are (in no order)

Cops (like, d'uh)
A nuclear engineer
A computer network consultant
A teacher (primary / elementary)
self employed business bod

well, the [negative] stereotype is like dishwasher, bum, etc...

i had a metalhead teacher in high school. it was awesome

Nice. What sorta bands was he or she into?

About the closest thing to a metalhead teacher I have at my school is a guy who really likes Pink Floyd and the Beatles. :erk: Although I think he likes Sabbath, not sure.

he was into tech death. his band, psypheria, was fantastic. symphonic death metal, similar to nocturnus

My friends are the only people in my town that listen to anything relatively heavy.

One friend is into Metalcore mostly, other friend likes Death, Malevolent Creation, Morbid Angel, Meshuggah, Deftones, et all.

do you look like a headbanger that wear metal bands everytime, just go the metal parties and have dates with people that likes metal as you?

or do you listen to metal but have a common life, use any kind os clothes and don't care if isn't playing metal where you are and have friends that don't like metal but respect your taste and you respect then too???

hmm..actually I would not describe myself as a headbanger or possessed metal freak. I also wear normal stuff and I wear
band shirts as well (most of the time) but not always (f. e. at school or work etc..) And normally Iam a very quiet introverted guy.. just depends on my mood..

I used to have massive long hair in the 80's and much of the 90's. Now I am old and my hair is thinning, so I don't have long hair any more. Now I use a #4 clipper all over. I wear a few band shirts here and there. I have a long gotee (about 4" below the chin). I work as a mechanical drafter/designer at a large company.

No real friends who like metal. I go to shows alone, usually.

I wear band shirts, but that's about it. My hair is kept at a nice short 6mm, wouldn't want it any other way. I compensate by blasting my metal whenever I get the chance.

When it comes to upper body wear I almost always wear metal shirts. I used to have long hair but I'm growing it out again. I do not give a shit about dating girls that listen to metal. I actually prefer females that don't listen to metal because most of the metal chicks I've met suck. Really bad taste in music is kind of a turn-off though.

+1, plus metal chicks try too hard to impress rather than just being themselves.

number two, because I believe that you don't have to dress like a metalhead to be a metalhead... looks mean nothing if you don't have anything to back it up
