Thank ye. You don't see more because I don't do more. I ran out of ideas years ago, and even when I had them, they were not very good ones.

Oh, and I should also note that I changed the hair color by request. The source depicted her with very dark hair, but everyone's most recent memories of her were with blonde hair.

Just grab a pic and go to town on it, and keep it in a folder for your own viewing and practice. It's good to keep on drawing to keep the rust away, even when you can't find anything. But, that's easier said then done. :) But, its good to have a stash that is for your eyes only anyhow, it just feels good.

Now why don't we see more of your drawings, Russel!? Everything is great! I would get rid of a few harsh lines, but the tone and proportions, I can tell they are good, without looking at the reference. You done damn good man!
Yep, agreed on both counts, both that it's good, and that the lines are a bit too present. In almost all cases, if you want to draw a realistic portrait, you need to avoid lines as much as possible.

I had been trying to do more imagination drawings. This was a digital doodle.

It's a good concept, but it could benefit from some more anatomy - the vertebrae in particular would be more convincing if they weren't so stylized. But then, I'm always way too realistically-oriented.

Believe me, I used to draw CONSTANTLY as a kid. It was the only thing I did. It really is sad to see something that was so important to me once fall away like it has, but I think I got too obsessed with it in high school. It was one of those things everyone expected me to do, until it seemed like it was more for others than it was for me.

Thanks Stormie! Yep your right about that vertebrae! I so just took a mere five seconds on that part. SARD snuck in! But, from what you say, both you and Emily have inspired me to eventually take this about 9 steps further from what it is today, and I had not even thought of it! Besides, I hate it when something I enjoyed doing ends! I will open this baby back up.

Russell, That's the great thing about doing something for your own eyes only. Like say you want your fave movie character to hang on your wall? It's yours and just for you. It kind of re kindles the fire you had in your belly so long ago! :)

Awesome picture!

Only problem is, (don't take this the wrong way) but the first thing i thought of when I saw the face was:
