Ask Janne!

1) Is there any recording of your music prior to CoB (when you were still playing jazz piano) that is available for us to listen to?

2) We always hear that Jens Johanssen is your biggest metal keyboard influence. I'd like to know who was (were) your favorite / influence when you were playing jazz piano.

3) Is there any interesting or funny story from your childhood (e.g., about stupid things you did, or you getting along or not getting along with Antti) that you can share with us? We get to read about Alexi's childhood through his interviews, but I am interested in how YOU grew up, too. Were your parents understanding or worried / upset when you started to get involved with COB guys?

4) Anything you can tell us about the 4th Warmen album would be greatly appreciated! I personally like the first 2 albums better than the 3rd one, although I think "Return of Salieri" is a killer tune. I also think that you don't need any vocals on Warmen albums (unless you want it for some reason). I'm completely happy and content with the Warmen tunes without vocals.

Janne, I'll be very happy if you could answer my questions although you don't have to! :)

Hello.
1. Im afraid there isnt. Havent even though about that...(edit I might have a cassette somewhere...)

2. I guess names like Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea

3. Im sure theres a bunch of funny stories. Me and Antti did all kind of crazy stuff when kids as kids are supposed to. I had a very happy/normal childhood. My parents were very supportive early CoB years.

4. I like the 2nd and 3rd more so I think its going to be something in that direction. Lately I haven´t felt very istrumental about Warmen. But then me and Antti have another project with a great drummer Jaska Lukkarinen that might or might not be more instrumental depending on the Warmen stuff. Complex.

hey Janne,

I was wondering, did it bother you at all that in AYDY ur keys were more in the background than on the previous albums? Will u be a more ''Lead'' instrument in the new album? I hope so cuz ur the best dude!

I didnt feel it was more background just that there is a bit less keys overall, anyways didnt bother me at all.

Post edited 'cause I just noticed what a stupid question that was. Written half asleep, meh.

So, a new one... Has there ever been a moment when you have felt regret for joining CoB?

And edit again, second question which I just remembered I wanted to ask. So, I've read somewhere that you're into drawing. What do you usually draw? Could it be possible to see something by you in the net?

There has been numerous moments when I felt like having a real job. I think its normal. I am very happy to be playing in a band that I am now.

I am into drawing but lately haven been very active. Its mainly archiecture, buildings and stuff... I think theres none of that in the net.

Out of pure curiousity, why do you focus on Salieri? I haven't heard much of his music (if you have any suggestions on his great stuff lemme know!) but its commonly known that Mozart was the man of the day even though Salieri had the position.

So...why Salieri?

Its just because of the movie Amadeus. He is just so bitter and envious of Mozart and hes character kinda inspired us.

edit the question about Salieri

Hi Janne,

Thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions!
It's so sweet of you.:)
I'd love to listen to your old jazz recording if you find the cassette someday.

When I listen to Warmen, it's because I want to listen to your keyboard (I'm sure many other Warmen fans are the same way!), so vocals can get a bit...annoying sometimes. (Sorry, but true...)

But, as you said, if you don't feel very intrumental about Warmen, that's perfectly fine with me.:) It's important that YOU are happy with your music first.

And I am very excited about your other project with Antti & the Lukkarinen guy, especially if it might be more instrumental!

Janne, I can't tell you with words how much I appreciate and enjoy your music. The melodies you create are so fascinating and touching, I just feel so happy whenever I am surrounded by your music.:) :)

Good luck & have fun with songwriting & rehearsal.

Hello,
I need to know:
Are the scenes where Alexi spits fire and plays guitar with Alexander in the Deadnight Warrior video taken in Espoo's Lippajärven Aurora park? This information would mean a lot to me! (Whoever knows the answer, tell me)

Hey Janne, just wanted to know what's ur fav thing to play on keys..whether COB or none COB?Thanks and btw u're my music idol :).

Hey Janne,

First of all, HUGE respect for your key abilities...unreal. Your speed and virtuosity is amazing. Do you have any exercises to keep your fingers so limber? Do you ever have gigs where the fingers just won't do their thing?

I'm just curious, cuz I don't think I've ever seen anyone's fingers move as fast as yours (except for Alexi maybe :) )

Thanks dude, and keep it metal! :kickass:
