At risk of sounding like a massive nerd...

I always noticed the acoustic bit in The Baying of the Hounds right before the ending heaviness sounded A LOT like the music for Tristram in the original Diablo. Seriously give that a listen and you'll hear it. Tristram had great music, such a sad atmosphere, maybe because no one ever moved...

:lol:Dude if I had to stand in the same place forever, giving quests to random adventureres, I would be pretty sad.
Anyways I definitely agree with all this, Diablo has excellent music and I have had many moments playing that game where I just kinda went, "Holy shit! Sounds like Opeth!"

yo i never played diablo but i remember last summer in Turkey, my friend was playing a Diablo tune on the classical guitar and it kind of does sound like the beginning of coil...

same, i lost about 2 years for nothing what about you?

About the same. I replayed it and LOD recently when I had some free time. It sure took me back.

P.S. Is anybody else stoked for StarCraft 2? I know when it'll come out, I'll disappear off the face of the earth for a couple of months.

im not waiting for sc2 i had eNOUGH its really dangerous this shit
after quitting d2 i spent shitloads of time with wc3 too now i think of all the useful things i could do with all this time!

/offtopic Wow, didnt expect to see another Tasmanian on here.

I personally can't remember the music..

You won't be able to resist!

Also, as soon as it's released, the number of deaths due to exhaustion in Internet cafes in Korea will increase exponentially.

I admit to also being reminded of the music from the Diablo series.

That said, the music from the Diablo series was pretty badass.

You folks have a lot of imagination. I do agree a LITTLE BIT for the Lut Gholein thing but, overally, nothing reminded me of Diablo II (and I think I played that game for 3 years when I was young). I guess you are a massive nerd :), kindly talking.

same with me, and its consuming me again now! right when i've got exams... worst timing ever.

So Mike does love gaming? I've never heard that but i've always suspected it haha. I'd love to meet him and instead of talking about all my favourite opeth shit i'd talk to him about diablo lol

Shit... I need to play some... I want to start an epic character... but I'm also in exams!!! :p

I brought this up in a post right after the leak back in april. I have the diablo II music, I'll scan through and post the sections I'm referring too.

Here's the first one

another

sorta like the BWP or Hex Omega Intro

Here's the one that sorta sounds like the interlude in the Lotus Eaters

This one never made into the final version of the game, but it's cool.

Here is Tristram in it's entirety - a poster was refering to it earlier

There's really too many to list. find em and Download em yourself, then post some soundbytes.

Thanks to Matt Uelman for creating this awesome music. - God I hope he does the music for #3
These songs used to be available for free from the blizzard site, so I'm not really breaking any rules by posting them.

edit: aha! i get it now. Really? (are you talking about Mike?) and who are you talking about at blizzard? or are u just pulling my leg?

No, he's pulling Wirt's leg, off course. ;-)

I totally agree that Watershed sounds quite Diablo II-ish at certain points (haven't played Diablo 1 so I can't comment on that). Harmonics, intruments and over all sound.

I too have spent a loooot of time with that game. =)

Talking about diablo.. Try playing diablo 2 act 1 while listening to Dance of december souls by Katatonia. It really fits atmosphere of the act so well! Gives me chills.
