Attn Doomsday Zach... You Were Right About Cryptopsy...

The problem is that it's just not Cryptopsy. At all. Like, not even close to what they've ever sounded like...and that's a bad thing, as even Whisper Supremacy and And then You'll Beg were death metal albums (decent, not great). If I were Flo Mounier (easily the most talented member of this band), I'd be embarrassed to still be affiliated with them.

I am now so incredibly glad I got to see Cryptopsy during the brief stint that Lord Worm returned for (and for that matter, while Jon Levasseur was still in the band)...Jesus Christ that is awful.

Wow... I am amazed at what I just heard... This is just plain unbelievable to hear.

So sad.. I can't believe... Greg's right... Oh how the mighty have fallen.

The song on their myspace isn't that bad...it just has a sort of coreish chorus to it..nothing to go insane over

Dude, I'm sorry, but how can you say this to people who've been fans of Cryptopsy for a long time, given this is completely different? It sounds like it's another band!! For these hardcore fans, this IS something to go insane over!

The song on the myspace page, Worship Your Demons, sure sounds like Cryptopsy to me, just with a cleaner and better production and I can make more sense of the new singers growling over Lord Worm(or who I like to call Lord Grunt, because he just makes noise and you cannot comprehend a damned thing he was doing). I like the new song, but that link for the other 2 songs won't work for me, so I am judging strictly from the song on the myspace page, that I think I will like this cd a lot because that song was up my alley.

Hear the 2 songs, its completely different. Some say it's fake but then one of the guys from the band claimed their fans were narrow minded and its a legit song...but the songs on their myspace are death with some coreish chorus

LOL if you honestly think those two songs are fake (Flo's drumming on the tracks is a dead giveaway that they are real) at THIS point you are in some serious denial.

I dont even own a Cryptopsy CD so I have no fanboy-ish and having a linkin park song on an album with a full DM track is rather mind boggling

I did finally hear Bemoan the Martyr, and I actually liked it. it would of been better at the beginning without the reverb and echo effects and just have it be the spoken word, and his clean vocals aren't awful, but I do like his screams and the music was interesting and different to me, but i am pretty much open to try anything and give it a fair chance. I bet the whole cd will be killer with just a few different songs on it that are "experimental", but if I was in a death/black metal band I would want to change it, especially with Cryptopsy, some of their older music could get repititive and was pretty random, so I personally don't see such a departure, they are just being random, just in a different sense.

I think Flo just got tired of doing the straight blasting and chaos that older Cryptopsy is and he wanted to do something different considering he is actually a very diverse player, he just doesn't get every chance to, considering Cryptopsy is his main outlet, i don't blame them one bit to do something different.

There is a ton of diversity if it is all different types of blast beats, gravity, hyper, and you name it, and if random chaos and speed. I use to love that shit, until I matured in my musical taste and like that kind of stuff to have some breathing room as well. I think with this new stuff he might finally have some breathing room and not be a wankfest.

...Also...I don't how people who love Lord Worm can have any say in good taste in vocalists, since I think his are some of the worst out there for death metal. Even in death metal I like to be able to understand what the singer is singing, and i think I will be able to understand more of the new singer.

After listening to it again a couple times, his clean singing actually sounds like Layne Stayley at times, which is definately not a bad thing plus it was nice not hearing a blast beat within the first 30 seconds like most of their songs.

ROFL!

CRYPTOPSY Calls It Quits

Montreal's CRYPTOPSY has revealed that they have decided to postpone all future CRYPTOPSY performances and the release of the group's forthcoming album, "The Unspoken King", Drummer Flo Mounier had this to say:

"Due to the current circumstances of the fans being unable to comprehend our new material, we have decided to call it quits. It should be said, however, that this will probably not be permanent, but we shall see. For we, the band, feel that the fans deserve from us something that they can appreciate no matter how closed minded they may be, and as such we have failed to deliver such to them, it is our obligation to quit and reevaluate the situation and take stock of our lives. We did not wish to alienate our entire fan base, let alone do it before the album even hit the shelves, but alas that is exactly what we have done. As such we have decided that the best thing to do at the moment is to drop off the SUMMER SLAUGHTER TOUR and postpone the release of our new album "The Unspoken King", possibly forever. We are very sorry if some of you were looking forward to seeing us on tour, but it must be said that as a band, the reaction we got from the leaked songs was not positive at all and it was felt that the same reaction would probably occur out on tour. Therefore, we have decided to not continue on with our current tour and album commitment. Again, we are sorry and want to thank ll the loyal fans for years of buying our stuff and going to see us live despite the line up changes we've had over the years!"

CRYPTOPSY's last studio album, "Once Was Not", was released in 2005 via Century Media Records and has sold 77,000 copies world wide.
