Auto-Release on my ssl comp clone.

I use both. Usually SSL for the whole mix bus, and 1176 for additional kick and snare parallel. Sometimes only snare. Gives it more sustain.

If I weren't so lazy I'd be printing the GSSL and Distressor, and use them like Staub does. The Distressor is a great parallel comp because of its release envelope, but it's just a prick to use in a hybrid situation with imperfect latency compensation.

A mate of mine here in Melb is a hobbyist (a darned good one at that), so he built it for the experience and goodwill. I've kinda exhausted the good will with the last 3 builds, so I have to look elsewhere for the Pultec/Sontec

Well, may be I´ll give a try to the Prime analog, it´s around 700€ shipment included, I am in need of a good stereo EQ pultec style also....

Why is that Ermz?? Cubase is supossed to have latency compensation isn´t it???
When I try to set paralel compression thru plugins I usually end with phase issues, I just set the pre fader sends of the tracks to my Paralel bus with SSL Comp inserted, and I start hearing phase issues on OH´s and also when I try on vocals, any idea??

100ms is great for some aggressive pumping. I always find it seems to come at the expense of glue though. It moves your mix around, and the transients can really key off some weird dynamic shifts. 100ms can be great in some cases, but for me I get a lot more solidity at Auto-Rel.

that's true
