Avatar will probably be the motivation I need to get a blu-ray player (or more likely, a PS3) when it's released on video. And yes I guess we do have similar tastes, Brian, because I agree on all counts. Well kind of, because I did go and see it again, but it was only $7, as apposed to $13.

does that mean you have seen it 4 times?

HAI!

I suppose my two cents on this film could be summed up in two answers:

Long answer:

Visually it was stunning, probably one of the most stunning things I've seen in theaters. From a story line perspective (and this is pretentious asshole writer Sean talking) it was, as people said, very unoriginal. Being that Dances with Wolves is one of my favorite films I noticed a lot of that and other "Hey we're white people mixin' it up with indigenous people/SAVE THE PLANET!" movies. Certainly most of the characters were fairly one dimensional; the Colonel for example was one of the most cartoonishly evil characters I've ever seen, same for the businessman character. That being said, as Brian and John noted, those things don't stop it from being an enjoyable cinematic experience.

Short Answer:
I liked it, just not the storyline but it was still pretty cool.
