Awesome album recommendation thread

Now the albums are just like I remember them being.

I never considered those songs to be parts of the albums and it never seemed right to have them there.

I never said I didn't like the songs (although Twilight Zone is one of my least favourite Maiden tracks). Don't get your panties in a twist, girls.

Gojira - From Mars to Sirius

I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS ALBUM RIGHT NOW. One of the best albums I have ever heard and all of you need to go out and buy it. It's insane how much I have been listening to it.

Just thought I'd actually describe the album, to gain interest, because this band deserves it.

They're a french death metal type thing that sing about flying whales. How awesome is that. Anywho... the singer sounds like a heavier devy, while the drummer does the most awesome off-beat thingies I've ever heard. Absolutely amazing guitar tone and everything just screams atmosphere and everything.

Imagine Strapping Young Lad with more insanity and atmosphere. I guess. But much much better. And about flying whales.

Fuck the entire album is a masterpiece. I can't get over it. Oh, and there's a track on there called "World to Come" that lets you hear what Oasis would sound like if they were a death metal band. It's awesome.

If you wanna see/hear 'em, here's some youtube clips:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8L2bZVA2Jc <--- "The Heaviest Matter of the Universe" LIVE!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hKeDdh2q7k <--- film clip for "To Sirius"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDFi3YLwWsI <--- bootleg for the song "Flying Whales"

Fucking, so worth my money. I'd probably call it the best album of 05 now that I've stumbled across it.

Do yourself a favour.

Into Eternity - "Buried In Oblivion"

It's criminal that these guys don't get enough attention. Brilliant tech-death crossed with power metal. Their own bio makes a joke about them being "dream theater meets cannibal corpse". Awesome 5 way vocal harmonies (1 clean lead singer, 1 deathy backing singer, 1 black metally backing singer and two clean backing tracks)

LISTEN TO ME PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.gojira-music.com

^^ You can stream their first two albums and the demo from there, but they haven't updated anything with From Mars to Sirius yet. You can also download the song "Remembrance" from the album The Link from there, which is another album I highly recommend!

And the song Remembrance is a killer... especially the part when it goes "I feel I come from... BETTER... CONDITIOOOOOOOONS!!!!" and then that chunky as fuck riff that just oozes its way along comes in... stiffy inducing... not to mention the outro that makes me shit my pants beyond repair!

So yeah, check that out... not quite as atmospheric as stuff on From Mars to Sirius (that album has whale noises and stuff, it rools!), but still damn fucking supreme!

You are one of the people that I hoped might give us a sample!

I downloaded that song Sydo, what actually is it!? Will listen shortly.

I am listening to that song on the Gojira myspace page now....not bad but not amazing.

Speaking of whales, has anyone heard Mastodon's Leviathan? What do you think? It has had so much hype around it. I couldn't get into it at first, but am a fan now. Again, it isn't amazing either, just very good. I love the first track though, Blood And Thunder, that rules.

I just thought it was silly. I didn't listen to it all the way through, granted, and I never tried again, but it did absolutely nothing for me at all. It was a while ago now. Maybe I'll dig it out and give it another spin. Not in any great hurry though.
