Bad bands you've payed money to see play live.

I'm really sorry I didn't go to that show now, bad or not that sounds pretty interesting.

I love White1 and White2, and the other Sunn O))) albums are okay. Khanate I would love to see live just to see how many people kill themselves in the crowd.

dude, sunn is just a bunch of homeless dudes in robes getting paid 20 bucks apiece while stephen o'malley rakes in his voluptuous guarantee... didn't you know?

Nobody would kill themselves in the crowd in a Khanate show. Watching the people that watched Sunn 0))) taught me this one thing. There's people that follow anything that they feel is the new "extreme to the max" in music and praise the shit out of it, regardless of the debate over it's actual merit, and my bet is in a Khanate show, 90% of the people there would be of this type. All hero worship "omg listen to that feedback man I think I'm gonna pass out this is TOO DOOM".

khanate is great live, and i have no idea how they manage to stay together because they don't watch the drummer as much as i imagine they'd have to. but he does signal really blatantly (which is cool).

when we saw them at the middle east upstairs, toby and i were literally front and center, and these stupid whitehat kids ten feet back were getting madder and madder as dubin growled into his mike and screwed with his effects board or whatever (because they had come to see METAL, NOT THIS SHIT) and finally halfway through the set a full beer came hurtling overhead, soaking me, toby, and alan dubin.

I'm such a shut-in I rarely venture out to shows that aren't within walking distance of my house. and those shows are almost always local bands that I could care less about walking out on.
the few bigger shows I do go to, I usually go to alone so I don't have to worry about bothering anyone if I want to leave early.

me and avi are brothers from another mother.

i'm the same way. i don't go to many shows (and don't think there isn't any shows in Des Moines, there is pretty much 3-4 clubs with live music every night). when i do go, i go by myself so i can take off anytime.

but a short list would have to have

4th Grade Nothing (horrible MPLS hardcore band) (actually most of my time in hardcore bands was spent outside while other bands played... ugh)
Thrones (opening for Blonde Redhead and Shellac... just... boring)
some horrible band that opened for Built To Spill
Crown of Thorns (BAD NYC HxC)
i recently left a US Maple show 3 songs into there set. i mean, i love them... but they were having sound problems and it was already 1a.m.
Molliecuddle... part of the horrible pre-emo emo phase in Minneapolis

need more? i could go on forever.

i was going to say deerhunter but then i realized i didnt pay to get in. i kept calling them 'beastmaster' and it was pissing everyone off.

Opeth were all 'here's the songs goodbye now' which is both a good thing and a bad thing but yeah Porcupine Tree were not my kind of thing, but then again they aren't on CD either. I disliked the stuff Wilson was saying between songs.

I did however end up leaving about 2 songs into Porcupine Tree's set.
Sacrilege! I saw PT twice last time they toured the states and they definitely didn't let down. I'd heard that Opeth was pretty bad live, but they were enjoyable both times I saw them.
