Bands With Only ONE Good Song...!

Blood stain Child- Legend of Dark. Sounds almost exactly like bodom except the lyrics sound...more...mumbled and in poorer english.

But truthfully I can't stand this band at all anymore. Sort of just a rip-off of other bands that already exist...with worse english...and they wear stupid matching outfits...

Satanic lyrics aren't always absurd, childish rubbish:

From the vaults below the desert-temple
to the throne among the stars
In the hearts of us, your children, oh divine luminary;
Thou shineth!
Like sunbeams penetrating the foundations of the earth
thine grace ignites the seeds of creation
And in our veins is stillness, as your shadows come to life,
for they are like whispers speaking of...

...death in heaven!

Behold the black cloud of corpselike birds
Their wings are on fire
And their song has turned backwards
A morbid cacophony singing of a new dawn...

Burn my flesh, thou light of lights!
Most eminent perfection, most magnificent of sights
Mark me with thee, stainless Ar!
Most real, so clear and bright they shine both eye and star
Descend upon the dead, black sky!
By a grace of just one glance they all will die
Pour the bitter wine of salvation into our blood!
And let our scars form rivers flooding the kingdom of their god

Let the immense gates of heaven open
Let the dawn of justice come
When a thousand pale and silenced faces
turn towards the sky,
to behold in fear and wonder how the firmanent turns dark
by the sound of a lonely trumpet calling
And countless birdlike carrions fall reeking from above,
embedded in a red glow telling of...

...A burning dawn!

For this sunrise shall not wake you by the foul light of christ,
but by Satan's fire burning in your eyes
And the thundering voice of a lion over the plains of man
shall proclaim the horned phoenix' final rise
For it is not rain that falls tonight from the black, ominous sky,
but sulphur tears from the last flock of birds
And the wind carries the smell of death, from the agony in their hearts,
as they fly in nameless fear towards...

Luciferion!

If you're going to say "Freak on a Leash" for Korn you may as well say, "Beautiful People" by Manson. Neither in my opinion are the single songs that do the artists any favors. But I was full of angst and naive when these two were in their prime and found my way into other redeeming tracks. I fully agree with the Aerosmith comment however. But I wouldn't say "Walk This Way"-- that was after Tyler's voice had unfortunately changed. "Dream On!"

I like the lyrics of that song mainly...

Korn - Freak On A Leash

Something takes a part of me.
Something lost and never seen.
Everytime I start to believe,
Something's raped and taken from me... from me.

Life's got to always be messing with me. (You wanna feel alive)
Can't they chill and let me free? (so do I)
Can't I take away all this pain? (You wanna feel alive)
I try to every night, all in vain... in vain.

Sometimes I cannot take this place.
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste.
Sometimes I cannot feel my face.
You'll never see me fall from grace.

Something takes a part of me.
You and I were meant to be.
A cheap fuck for me to lay.
Something takes a part of me.

Feeling like a freak on a leash.(You wanna feel alive)
Feeling like I have no release.(So do I)
How many times have I felt diseased?(You wanna feel alive)
Nothing in my life is free... is free.

Sometimes I cannot take this place.
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste.
Sometimes I can't feel my face.
You'll never see me fall from grace.

Something takes a part of me.
You and I were meant to be.
A cheap fuck for me to lay.
Something takes a part of me.

Go!

So... fight! something on the... dum na ema

Fight...some things they fight
So... something on the... dum na ema
Fight... somethings the fight
Fight... something of the... dum na ema
No... Something they fight
Fight... something of the... dum na ema
Fight... somethings they fight

Sometimes I cannot take this place.
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste.
Sometimes I can't feel my face.
You'll never see me fall from grace.

Something takes a part of me.

I have also been ripped on for liking this song.

I would probably say .... nymphetamine - Cradle of Filth

I can't believe there's three pages on here just discussing a Korn song? Korn sucks ass, always have. And no, I never liked Korn even as a teenager- even when, admittedly, I did listen to some nu-metal.

I still throw on a bit of early Korn once in a while, I like the song Chi, and some stuff from the first disc.

You listen to Black Metal so I think we can exclude you from the list of people who can judge what constitutes good lyrics :lol::lol:

Well aren't you a little butthurt faggot? You post a good thread then when people give there opinions and you don't like them you decide to go after their taste in music, how original.

Anyways I think Korn without a doubt has more than one good song.

Untouchables was pretty much all filler and so was Take a look in the mirror. But Self Titled and Life is Peachy were both pretty solid.

If I may interject...

I write lyrics. I fucking love writing lyrics that mean something, and I started writing in 7th grade. I'm currently in sophomore year of college, and let me just say....Korn's lyrics sound like what I wrote in 7th and 8th grade, an example of my lyrics is:

I look into the mirror
That person there is not me
All this shit I live with
Has finally come to haunt me

feel like cardboard lyrics, with paper thin generic themes? Cool, I could've been the frontman from Korn at 13 years old.

Then you have a song as short as Wintrey Grey by Arcturus (fuckin love Arcturus...)

Frozen streams and vapours gray,
cold and waste the landscape lay...
Then a hale of wind.

Hither-Whirling, Thither-Swilrling,
Spinn the fog and spinn the mist...
Still we walked on through woods and wintry gray,
home through woods where winter lay - Cold and dark...

(Waiting for a change in the weather.
Waiting for a shift in the air.
Could we get there together, ever?
Waiting for our late, late return)

Through the woods. Home through the woods where winter lay...

It's got vivid imagery, it has a feel and evokes a feeling of bleakness. Of course, it sticks with the black metal themes of grim and frostbitten, but regardless, these lyrics are poetic as opposed to using the word "sometimes" three times in three successive lines.

Good lyrics are also time-subjective and can be defined as such depending on how you are feeling at that particular moment in time. For example, if you're feeling disillusioned and angry, then those Korn lyrics would do the job well, but if you're feeling more artistic and poetic, then something like that Arcturus song would work better. I did major in English literature so I am not unaware as to what constitutes traditionally good poems and lyrics, but sometimes a simple phrase like "People=Shit" (Slipknot) can have far more meaning than a paragraph of elegantly-composed lyrics.

"Here We Go Again, Motherfucker

Come On Down And See The Idiot Right Here
Too Fucked To Beg And Not Afraid To Care
What's The Matter With Calamity Anyway
Right, Get The Fuck Outta My Face

Understand That I Can't Feel Anything
It Isn't Like I Wanna Sift Through The Decay
I Feel Like A Wound
Like I Got A Fucking Gun Against My Head
You Live When I'm Dead

People Equal Shit
People Equal Shit
People Equal Shit
People Equal Shit

Come On

Satan

One More Time, Motherfucker

Everybody Hates Me Now, So Fuck It
Blood's On My Face And Hands
And I Don't Know Why
I'm Not Afraid To Cry
But That Is None Of Your Business

Overdo It, Don't Tell Me You Blew It
Stop Your Bitchin' And Fight Your Way Through It
I'm Not Like You, I Just Fuck Up
Come On MotherFucker Everybody Has To Die

People Equal Shit
People Equal Shit
P-p-people Equal Shit
People Equal Shit
People Equal Shit (What'cha Gonna Do)
People Equal Shit ('Cause I'm Not Afraid Of You)
People Equal Shit (I'm Everything You'll Never Be)
People Equal Shit Ooohh Yeeah"
