Bands you wish were around now

Digital Ruin.

+ 1...Great prog metal that got way overlooked & probably few even know about.

Ark...as mentioned by others...Jorn's best work.

Dali's Dilemma...l miss their brand of prog.

Avalon...cmon Chity...bring it back.

Seventhsign...l wanna hear Gregg Annala wail again.

Without Warning...prog metal with some soul.

I guess this is a Prog and Power Metal forum, but seriously 22 replies and not one mention of DIME!!! I would tear out my fucking insides to be able to be able to participate* in a Pantera concert again.

* = you dont watch a Pantera concert you participate there is no option.

Queen (with Freddy)
Beatles
The Doors
Black Symphony (I can't tell if they are back or not)
Arcturus
The Clash
The Ramones

Windir - I got into them literally a month before Valfar passed.
Sword
Forbidden - looks like I may get my chance
Tiamat - in their early days

I got to see Windr play.....it was at the Milwaukee Metalfest...they were great. You can see me in the Windr DVD with Valfar getting our picture taken together.

QFT

Some of my most memorable concert experiences revolve around Pantera shows

I would have loved to have seen Fifth Angel......being a former Phoenician (born and raised but living in SoCal now), I really miss ICON - although I hear they are reuniting.

I also miss the Ron Taylor-led Lillian Axe (loved the Poetic Justice lineup). Saw them a number of times and they were great. Highly underrated and underappreciated.

There are lots of good mentions in here, as well as some bands I'm going to check out. Besides Death, my main mention would be the highly underrated Cirith Ungol. You cannot mistake another band for CU and all their albums are great. King of the Dead and Frost and Fire are highly regarded as classics. One Foot in Hell is probably their weakest IMO, but stil good. Paradise Lost's 2nd half rivals any album ever made.

Shok Paris.

I had the pleasure of seeing these guys at BWBK's Six Pack Weekend back in '04. I was originally going to get some food, as I had no idea who they were. I'm glad I gave them a chance because I ended up staying for their entire set. I'm surprised anyone outside of Cleveland knows who they are.

Death - Holy shit, just when Chuck was becoming "progressive"...I just wish I could have seen them live and that they were still doing albums and...god they would still be kickass, I'm sure of it

Arcturus...and it doesn't matter the vocalist, Garm would be great to have seen them with and I think Vortex really shined with them (even more than his stuff with Borknagar).

Windir is a big one too, what a magical band, I wish I could've been at that Milwaukee show, then, because they fucking rule.

Pantera - I'm not a big Pantera fan, but I still wish Dimebag were still around, y'know?

Pink Floyd - If I could see the lineup from The Wall or before, it'd be magical.

Emperor - I'd love it if they were a band that still put out new content and did significant tours

Sepultura with both Cavaleras back (and them actually playing thrash again, goddammit)

Cryptopsy - a tongue in cheek answer, but shit, everything's already been said about the "new" Cryptopsy and I don't need to repeat it here

Green Carnation - I did get to see them live before they call it quit (on their first and only US tour, which was not a good one for them, attendance wise). They are incredible in just about every way, and I will miss them.

Gorgoroth - I wish that this split personality thing would end and they could become one cohesive group, I'm fucking confused right now of what to actually call Gorgoroth!

Spice Girls - 'nuff said. Spice up your fucking life!
