Bass in Metal

"Strech Of The Imagination" by Taramis has some of the most amazing bass lines i heard in a metal album, the bass is pretty front in the overall mix and usually steals the attention from the riffs. Overall the album is totally killer. A good example of what im saying is this:
Taramis - Diceman

Megadeth- Take No Prisoners. anything by the deth really. try peace sells.

and ive heard anthrax's caught in a mosh is a hard fast one.

sorry im not great with bass, i only really know thrash lol

also Metallica- Battery

Stargazer (as someone already mentioned)
Quo Vadis (especially the last album)
Fleurety
Bergthron (Jagdheim)
Frostmoon eclipse
Misanthrope

I'm truly glad when I can actually hear bass in music...

You're ace. :kickass:

I'd recommend Atheist - Unquestionable Presence to the OP. Catchy, technical (but not unplayable) basslines that are quite high up in the mix so you can hear and learn them easily. Tony Choy is an awesome player. His work on Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients is excellent to play to as well.

Cynic - Focus has crazy bass playing on it but it's fucking hard to play, and it's all on fretless.

Also Coroner have great basslines, the earlier tech-thrash stuff is great to play to without being unplayable, and their later material is easier and really tasty.
