No, the correct answer is: At the Gates - The Red in the Sky is Ours

Some other key albums:
God Macabre - The Winterlong
The Chasm - Deathcult for Eternity: The Triumph
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Opeth - Morningrise
Atrocity - Longing for Death

Totally agree with Malignance's list as well, except I never really liked Therion.

Yeh, well in fairness there a few up there that i havent heard of

Onward to Golgotha for the win, though I would also have voted for Altars of Madness and The Rack, had multiple voting been available (or, in the latter's case, if it had been fucking listed).

Death - Human for me probably. Altars of Madness is better, but it's '89, so I didn't vote for it.

Why isn't Unquestionable Presence on there? You've ignored a lot of American stuff actually.

Piece or Time sounds like thrash and the others progressive metal to me. I have plenty of US choices. Between europe and the US it's probably balanced. I only have so many poll options and I think it's a great list to start a death metal poll with. If you want I can put a bunch of shitty bands that formed in 1997 on there!

Remember last night I mention I can't decide between dawn of possession and here and after, and you go DUDE THE WINTERLONG THE WINTERLONG KICK ASS DUDE IT'S BETTER THAN LEFT HAND PATH DUDE. I'm sitting there like what the fuck!

I didn't know I said that. :erk:

I would not consider opeth 'morningrise' or katatonia 'brave murder day' death metal.

... also is death 'symbolic' really a death metal album

I think not
