OK, I'm a HUGE deathmetal fan and I'd like to hear your opinion on what are the best deathmetal records ever.... here's my top "whatever-number" in random order:


- Malevolent Creation - Retribution (just so fucking energetic)

- Morbid Angel - Blessed Are the Sick (dark and moody all the way)

- Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris (sheer brutallity and atmosphere have never been combined better)

- Cryptopsy - Whisper Supremacy (organized chaos supreme!)

- Dismember - Death Metal (old school all the way....)

- Suffocation - Despise the Sun EP (not a full album but probably the most intense stuff ever recorded.... Dave Culross just rócks!)

- Immolation - Close to a World Below (dark, technical and just plain brutal brilliance)

Dissection isnt death metal, Atg is more melodic death so i wouldnt think it count and its a sad world when any gay ass sfu album is considered a good dm album let alone a best of all time. Sfu is such generic weak dm it isnt even funny. Barnes needs to be shot.

According to themselves, Dissection is death metal. And ATG is as much death metal as, for example, Death. But more melodic.

Yeah, I prefer to describe both bands as melodic DM; although I've certainly heard people erroneously lump Dissection into the BM category quite frequently.

I'm not a huge fan of DM for the most part, but the DM albums that I like are generally the early Swedish stuff like old Entombed, Dismember and Unleashed.
